The Posh Party

Dear Shen Dove,

Yesterday Nnenna and I attended the Spring Trends Posh Party hosted by Poshmark at the Ace Hotel. Despite passing by the hotel several times/week for months, I had never actually been inside. I caught up with some friends from the Bloggers’ Collective and met a few new faces– including Hope, who blogs at A Flattering Tale and is a member of the Correspondence Club. …

Afternoon by the River

Dear Lydia,

I think this is the last time I’ll be wearing tights this season. I hope so, but one never knows with the wildly changing weather. Lately I’ve been either burning or freezing.

I’ve been experimenting with taking photos in direct light more and more and love how saturated the colors turn out. The East River is an astonishing shade of blue behind me. Who knew it could look like that? …

When Bloggers go to Blue Owl

Dear Silvergirl,

On the 11th Nnenna, Lala, and I met at Blue Owl for a mini blogger meetup. And Kim is definitely coming next time! I love getting together with my friends– it’s a very big part of what makes New York so great. And we live very near each other, so we should definitely be seeing each other all the time.

Nnenna and I were together during daylight for the first time in so long and we chose the church courtyard for photos again. Lala met us later and has been camera shy lately, but I’m determined to get her in photos soon. I’m such a creepy photo stalker. …

A New York Weekend Day

I’ve completely forgotten how much I like the SoHo that is not overrun with tourists. The main streets are wrecked on the weekends for me, but go a little more out of the way and I begin to see the neighborhood I remember from my teenage years– small shops, good restaurants, everyone walking down the street lives here. And you can actually walk down the street without feeling like you’re playing a real life game of Frogger.

I meet my friend Devon for brunch at Lucky Strike, a favorite dinner and drinks spot. I’ve never been for brunch before, but I expect it to be good. …

New York Swap!

Dear Lydia,

Last Wednesday I attended an awesome swap event hosted by The Bloggers’ Collective. It was totally fate that I was clearing out my closet when I saw the post about it on I Have a Degree in This. I took fun things like my old Burberry sunglasses and DKNY scarf that have been on my swap page forever, as well as an American Apparel skirt that apparently was in high demand (sorry Nnenna, but you know I’ll just be giving things to you when there’s no swap to go to).

I got to connect with old friends (um, and by old I mean about six months?) and made new ones. …

Reasons to Love New York: Brooklyn Bridge Park After Dark

Dear Dotty,

Guess who again! It’s always nice to have victims to practice your photography skills on. That’s obviously why I’m always pestering Nnenna to do things. Oh yeah, you’re free? Let’s go eat dumplings… and then I can practice doing night photography take photos of you for your blog! Although on this particular occasion it was let’s sit in the park and eat doughnut holes after we’re done running around with the camera….
