Happy spring! I’m hoping the weather begins to even out as we’ve had some wild swings lately and everyone seems to have the sniffles. I’ve been looking for fun spring stuff and saved a few things that I liked. …

Win a Vintage 1980s Bob Mackie Dress | Contests
Guess what? Bob Mackie is having an Instagram video contest and the prize is this vintage dress from 1982! The dress would best fit a modern size 2/4, but if that’s not your size there’s no reason why you absolutely have to wear it– it would make a great collector’s piece as well.
The contest is open until Thursday, August 15th at 12:01 am. For more information and the official entry details visit the Bob Mackie blog here.
We Wear Things at the MoMA | Fashion
Dear Caitlin,
This is my pretty friend Alice– fellow blogger, YouTube star and founder of Candifiend Studio. I recently shot on location for her for We Wear Things… at the MoMA Education Center. Isn’t the cow wall great? I usually only work outside, but it was a very gloomy day and an indoor shoot was a must. …
Sheila Johnson Spring 2013 Scarves | Fashion
How compelling are these color-rich Sheila Johnson Collection scarves? They’re printed with photos from her travels– Haiti, Rwanda and Uganda for the Spring 2013 collection.
As a photographer and former world traveler, I appreciate the snippets of everyday life captured in each image. Whenever I take a photo, my goal is to make even the most mundane object seem extraordinary. …
Beach Bag Essentials | Vacation
I honestly get bored very easily at the beach. I can’t do the nine-hours-a-day, nothing-but-sitting-there thing. It’s very important that I have a lot of books (with a fully charged book battery) and an iPhone to keep me occupied. And if there are jellyfish in the ocean, then I need the extra phone battery, too.
Here are my beach bag essentials–
The bag: Longchamp Le Pliage Large in Sunshine. This is the old style from 2008 with long handles. The new style is currently on sale at Nordstrom for under $100, down from $145.
The contents: J.Crew Style Guide and Printed backup battery for iPhone 3G/4/4S (on sale for $29.99 and an extra 40% off), iPhone, Kindle Fire HD, and lightweight dress. This one’s pure + good from Anthropologie and no longer available, but this similar striped dress is nice.
Beach Ready Looks | Elif and Elif for Jordan Taylor
Looking for something breezy and beautiful to take take with you on this summer’s beach vacation? Emerging designer Elif Katik is the creator of both Elif and Elif for Jordan Taylor, two totally island destination-ready spring collections. It’s no surprise that my two favorite looks are the peacock feather dress and the swingy maxi dress above.

Watching RuPaul’s Drag Race at Bob Mackie NYC
Earlier in the week, Bob Mackie returned to RuPaul’s Drag Race as a guest judge and I headed out to the Bob Mackie offices for a viewing of the episode. Admittedly, I hadn’t seen the show in some time.
I don’t know why I ever stopped watching. I had forgotten how much fun the show is. Great food, great friends, a few bottles of sparkling wine… …
S.I.L.K. Fall 2013 Press Preview | Fashion
Designed by Michele Lee, S.I.L.K. is a contemporary women’s fashion brand that makes liberal use of silk and silk-based fabrics. Fall 2013 is S.I.L.K.’s second collection, ladylike and elegant with a fun color story and bold patterns. I spotted some beautiful faux leather interspersed between the soft silk pieces, including a rich-looking gold dress. Unfortunately my only photo of it is a partial here on Instagram. The faux leather is the nicest I have ever seen or felt.
I was also taken with the trench coats, particularly the ones done in floral fabrics. No surprise about the coats, but I don’t usually see myself in florals. These patterns happen to be particularly well done, and of course it helps when they’re combined with gorgeous fabrics.
S.I.L.K. is currently carried in select boutiques across the U.S. and retails for between $200 – $600.
