Freezing in Flatiron

Dear Dotty,

So… about spring… it has definitely not sprung yet. It’s a bit cold, very windy, and I really did think we were past the ice storm part of the season. I love snow, but I do get tired of the slush that makes the city a mess. Though when it’s warm I get tired of New York by the end of August when it’s been 100 degrees for three weeks straight and can we all just please go to Ireland for a little while and cool off? I guess that means I appreciate the seasons. I am looking forward to leaves on the trees.

Is Someone Behind Me?

Dear Kelsey,

Ahh the perks of being a style blogger. Fashion week, fun events, millions of free nail polishes… constant paranoia that someone’s in your frame. All in a good day’s work.

This offensively bright ensemble is what I ended up wearing to brunch at Punch. More than a year later and I’m still trying to break in these Pour La Victoire flats. I love how they look but they’re very tough on my feet.

Night in Times Square

Dear Caitlin,

On Friday after the kensie jewelry preview, Nicole, Nnenna and I decided it would be a good idea to take some photos in Times Square. Or rather I decided Times Square was a totally perfect location and dragged them along with me. It was a little windy, but surprisingly uncrowded. It still weirds me out that there’s no traffic there any more. No more iconic photos of taxis stuck in traffic on Broadway.

Anthropologie Tropicalia Pleated Maxi Dress on the Beach

Dear Francy,

I wore this dress to my friend’s beautiful wedding on the beach (congratulations!). I got it at Anthropologie in December with the wedding in mind, but I feel like it’s going to be one of my forever pieces. It has a classic cut and the print will never go out of style during the warmer months of the year.

I might even wear it to fashion week in a few days. Dare I? It might be a little unseasonable for February in New York…

Snowfall

Dear Katha,

Well it’s certainly been cold and windy here lately. Winter is setting in. There’s also been a bit of snow, which you probably know that I love. All those winter sports as a child… I should never have stopped figure skating. That was one of my favorites.

Von Vonni was kind enough to send me this wintry patterned floral dress with long sleeves, which I just adore. I think that long sleeves are so underused on dresses.

Christmas Eve in Pink

Dear Mia,

I hope you had a good holiday! Sorry I haven’t been around very much for the past month, I think I’ve had visitors or traveled every single week since Thanksgiving. The end of the year seemed unusually disorganized for me. I even forgot that I actually did take photos on Christmas Eve. I decided on my newish (from October in anticipation of the remainder of fall, but then Sandy happened and I didn’t have it for weeks and weeks) pink dress from Madewell. It’s a great color and the silk is nice, but the skirt is plagued by static electricity. Hopefully that won’t happen in the summer.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party | Outfits

Dear Nnenna,

Merry Christmas! I haven’t been to an ugly Christmas sweater party in a very long time. By now I think you know that I love theme parties, and if I’m going to wear something ridiculous it’s going to be really really ridiculous. And it’s going to involve Alexander Wang haircalf pumps. Wear jeans to an ugly Christmas sweater party? Please. Originally I had on a black skirt, but it just wasn’t as funny as the zebra. This outfit is pretty hilarious– feathers, reindeer, and two kinds of animal print… Cruella de Vil would be proud.
