Zang Toi Fall 2014

Zang Toi Fall 2014 | New York Fashion Week | Delayed Missives lifestyle blog

Without doubt, Zang Toi is my favorite show of the season. The one show that thrills me more than any other — that makes me think about why I love runway photography — is always Zang Toi. There’s a magical quality to a Zang Toi show. The models walk sedately and confidently. They don’t rush, they’re not in a hurry. You will wait for them. And the clothes— the movement of a skirt or the shine of an embellishment is enough to stop the heart. You know the feeling when you get it. There’s a collective sigh in the air, a shared feeling of appreciation for being able to take part in something so beautiful.

First Impressions | Intel 2 in 1 Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series Review

Intel 2 in 1 Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series Review

As part of the Intel 2 in 1 Smart Squad, I’m testing out an Intel 2 in 1 Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series tablet/computer. Full disclosure: I’ve never run a Windows 8 PC before and have no idea what I’m doing. It’s interesting and definitely has a very tablet home screen kind of feel to it as well.

I actually expected my Intel 2 in 1 to be smaller. It’s a good size and a good balance between tablet and computer. Would I want to develop software on it for 10 hours/day? Probably not, but it’s the perfect size for travel.

Recent Empties | Beauty

recent empty beauty products

Dear Laura,

Since I was so busy with school this year, I haven’t had much time to seek out new beauty products. I have strong loyalty to my favorites, but occasionally I try a new product that I end up really liking. I’ve finished all of these products lately. Some are old favorites and always repeat buys, others were completely new to me. …

Things You Didn’t Know: Beauty Blogger Edition

red lipstick | Delayed Missives fashion and beauty blog

Dear Christine,

Except for a slight two-year hiatus in college, I’ve been blogging in some form or another since 1998. First, it was Xanga. Then I started building my own websites on Angelfire.

It’s a common misconception that I started out as a personal style blogger….

How to Dress for a Cool Summer

IMG_4680
Dear Katha,

I don’t know about you, but we’ve had a number of cool summer days during the past month. Early mornings and late evenings in particular seem to call for a scarf or jacket. I love to wear my breezy summer pieces, so I’ve been getting a creative with a few ways to add warmth without looking like I’m ready for fall!

Reading…

books

Dear Shen Dove,

This morning I was able to sit down for some blog reading for the first time since… April? I had to let reading blogs go while I was in school, and then I had to let blogging go, too. It was hard for me to do that. The best part about blogging is the wonderful community of friends I’ve made over the past few years.

Beach Weekend

IMG_2952

Dear Mia,

I hope you’re having a fantastic summer! The past few days have been very hot, and today was exceptionally rainy. It’s been very nice lately, though, so I can’t complain.

Summer is supposed to be a time for a bit of relaxation, but it seems as if there’s always so much to do.  Run here, run there… I’m consciously trying to plan the next few months so that I’m not even more worn out by the end of September. I think I need the rest.

The next few photos are from a beach trip. And may or may not include a puppy.

Letter J Chelsea | Father’s Day Gift Guide

Letter J Chelsea Menswear Boutique | New York City

Father’s Day is in less than two weeks, so I’ve begun gift shopping. I prefer not to leave it until the last minute! Letter J Chelsea is a menswear boutique that recently opened in Chelsea, and Jason Somerfeld (Letter J’s owner) graciously granted me an interview.

I am seated comfortably in a modern-styled chair in Letter J Chelsea. The afternoon sun is bright and light streams through floor-to-ceiling front windows. On my right is a streamlined bookshelf filled with all sorts of interesting publications. To my left is the store, a surprisingly large, airy space. I am listening to Jason tell me about his career and what brought him to where he is today.
