Reading…

books

Dear Shen Dove,

This morning I was able to sit down for some blog reading for the first time since… April? I had to let reading blogs go while I was in school, and then I had to let blogging go, too. It was hard for me to do that. The best part about blogging is the wonderful community of friends I’ve made over the past few years.

It was also hard for me to do nothing but programming for months and months. I really like application development, but I also realized that it’s important to lead a balanced life— physically and mentally. That’s almost impossible to do when you need to be at school 80+ hours/week. Lack of balance in your lifestyle is very unhealthy. You can eat healthily, but if you can’t be social or take a breath of fresh air, you will suffer for it.

I’ve only been able to catch up with a few blogs so far. Here are some of my favorite posts of the batch I recently read:

I hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying these long summer days!

Thanks for your lovely words on my last post!
I know – nowadays the only time to read I have is on the train to work…

    Have a great day,
    -Kati

Hey, I recognize one of those books! (I would add a winky emoticon here, but it always feels unbearably smug when I try to deploy one. So just imagine a non-smug winky emoticon.) I’ll be sending you balancing thoughts, and thanks for linking to RiS. Those pants will make me world-famous yet.

    Alex,
I am so glad to see you posting, there was a bit of a void for a while, but I do understand!
I admire what you are learning to do, and can see ahead to the future you are building, and as a person probably old enough to be your mom, I will say, I am proud!
You are right about balance , though, so please heed your sage words.
I will check out some of those blogs myself.
Happy mid summer, I hope to see more of you!
    xx, Elle

Happy to see your posts again Alex! I’m glad you are able to find more time for blogging and other things. You are so right about balance, it’s sometimes difficult to attain, but worth trying to ensure you remain healthy and happy. I’m definitely checking out all of the links in your roundup.
