Brandon Sun F/W 2013 | New York Fashion Week

A very downtown, undone city-chic collection from Brandon Sun. Very specific, but very cool. Brandon Sun used to be Design Director for Oscar de la Renta furs, so that fabric that looks like velvet? It’s actually mink. So interesting. Such a high-end material done in a bit of an insouciant way.

Freezing in Flatiron

Dear Dotty,

So… about spring… it has definitely not sprung yet. It’s a bit cold, very windy, and I really did think we were past the ice storm part of the season. I love snow, but I do get tired of the slush that makes the city a mess. Though when it’s warm I get tired of New York by the end of August when it’s been 100 degrees for three weeks straight and can we all just please go to Ireland for a little while and cool off? I guess that means I appreciate the seasons. I am looking forward to leaves on the trees.

Catherine Malandrino F/W 2013 | New York Fashion Week

For Fall/Winter 2013, Catherine Malandrino was inspired by the work of Art Deco era interior designer Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann. The dark color story of black, oxblood, olive and blue looked surprisingly soft– the geometric patterns were sweetened by the contrast of loose lines and an unexpectedly relaxed fit. Favorites include the leather and velvet pieces as well as the black and nude patterned dresses.

Beauteeze Launch Party at Wix Lounge | Events

Last week a few blogger friends and got together for complimentary cocktails and beauty treatments at the Beauteeze.com launch party at Wix Lounge. Beauteeze.com is currently in beta but as far I can tell is fully functional. You can browse and book beauty appointments online by time, date, location or treatment.

I had a wonderfully relaxing mini massage from in-home treatment specialists NYC Healing Hands that drained the tension from my shoulders in less than five minutes.

Is Someone Behind Me?

Dear Kelsey,

Ahh the perks of being a style blogger. Fashion week, fun events, millions of free nail polishes… constant paranoia that someone’s in your frame. All in a good day’s work.

This offensively bright ensemble is what I ended up wearing to brunch at Punch. More than a year later and I’m still trying to break in these Pour La Victoire flats. I love how they look but they’re very tough on my feet.

Fall 2013 Nail Trends Preview | Beauty

Lately I’ve been paying more attention to the small details of a show– perfectly placed braids, major eyelashes, nude lips, a slash of eye shadow…

Zoya did glittery nails to match the gold looks at Rafael Cennamo, where full-size samples were also given out to presentation-goers. Here I used Angelina (the dark brown) all over and Goldie for barely there gold tips. The custom gold flake Maria Luisa top coat was not included in the set, or else I would have tried an ombré glitter overlay.

Sending off Lindsay with Brunch at Punch

Nnenna, Stéphanie, and our guest of honor and dear friend Lindsay (center) who has sadly moved away from New York.

It’s always difficult to send a friend off on the next adventure of her life, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be an afternoon get-together filled with light and laughter. And that’s exactly what happened one rainy Saturday in Flatiron.

We brunched on cocktails, a fantastic bread basket, and all kinds of fancy eggs at Punch Restaurant. Definitely added to my best brunches in New York list.
