Flowers on the Patio

6.11.2010 ~ Friday ~ South of the Mason-Dixon Line

I spent the end of last week traveling and attending celebrations.  Friday evening was my friend’s graduation party, her parents are longtime friends of the family.  It was definitely a warm one!  And I managed to get bit by a mosquito sometime during thirty second trip from car to house.  I sometimes think I would benefit from a mosquito repellent that is injected in the blood!

This almost an exact repeat of something I wore in early April.  I just changed the shoes.

Free people dress, J. Crew ribbon belt, Steve Madden sandals, Louis Vuitton bag.

Wedding Season Alert!

So you may recall me testing out some potential guest of wedding dresses recently… Unfortunately the Aidan Mattox dress did not work out at all.  It is very gold.  Like… casino host gold.  Sad.  But anyway.  Onward.

The wedding I am attending this weekend is taking place on a plantation in Virginia.  The ceremony and reception will be completely outdoors.  It’s forecast to be 97 degrees, humidity in the 60% range.  I think I’m going to have to take a hat.

There was Twenty. Three., also known as my birthday post.  DvF dress.  Love.  However, I think it’s not formal enough for a wedding (it is from the beach line and made out of some very nice jersey… some very thin, very nice jersey) and it is really, really effing short.  And slit at the sides.  But it’s still a strong contender.  Mainly because if I wear it I probably won’t wilt.

I’ve axed The Print.  I would love to wear it but it needs tailoring.

I snapped a few photos of this Rachel Roy dress, which I’ve never photographed for the blog.  It can be tied several different ways and I never seem to be able to settle on one!  I like it but it’s very volumizing to the hips, you know?  Kind of like The Print.  But this dress is extremely light, which is an incredible asset in 97 degree weather.

There’s also Black Tie Optional + Victor Victoria, which doesn’t really need a photo as it’s my most recent outfit post, but here it is in full color.  I faded out the post photos a bit for an old photo kind of feel.  I don’t think this is a serious contender any more due to the weather forecast.  I believe it’s just going to be too hot.

So.  Forever 21 to the rescue?  I might go look there tomorrow… just in case.

Black Tie Optional + Victor Victoria

6.5.2010 Saturday

Jessica of What I Wore issued another challenge!  I don’t know if it will be posted – I sent my photo at like 9pm because I thought the deadline was in the evening like the previous challenges but it’s actually 11:59am… oh well, I definitely wouldn’t have made the deadline anyway today because of work.  I had so much fun with the last challenge, but the best part was connecting with other bloggers, especially on tumblr!  Sometime soon I’m going to make up a post about the tumblr bloggers!  Maybe some of you guys don’t know about each other yet!

Saturday I attended the Annual Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Gala.  I suppose now I’m an actual patron of the arts.  And a tiny bit closer to becoming a philanthropist (my life’s goal).  One day I hope to be able to give serious money to causes I find worthy but for now I have to content myself with being a minor donor.  The Gala was black tie optional and it’s usually the case that most men wear tuxedos so I wasn’t really content with wearing one of the dresses from my, errr… sorority formal days.  Luckily I came across this dress at Lord and Taylor (after hours of despair at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, where apparently black tie optional dresses are no longer carried).  I think it has good rewearability too!  It’s an option for a wedding I’m attending this weekend — an additional option post is coming soon!

Ellen Tracy dress, J. Crew hat, Ralph Lauren bag, Nina shoes.

You may have noticed…

a serious slowdown in posts recently.  I’ve been feeling lately that I just do not have the wardrobe to keep creating content for this blog.  I’m running out of clothes to photograph and ways to remix things.

Also, I seriously want a better camera.  And a crash course in how to actually use it.

So we’ll see.  I may be only posting new looks two or three times/week for a while.

Look for the latest What I Wore challenge post soon!

Les Cheveux

On Tuesday afternoon at 1 pm… I finally got my hair cut!  Are you ready for it?

I don’t think you’re ready yet!  But okay….

L’haircut, it is le short!

5.26.2010 Wednesday

This post is extremely late!  Sorry, I had quite a busy weekend… busy partying!  I can’t even remember what I did when I wore this dress other than go to work… that was probably all, actually.

My cousin brought that cool fan back from a trip to Spain!

I forget but it’s from Confetti in the Outer Banks dress, J. Crew ribbon belt, Sofft sandals.

Pinky

5.24.2010 Monday

Last photos with long hair.  I’ve worn this shirt with the yellow version of this skirt before (it’s actually one of the best things I’ve ever worn) and thought I’d try it out with this color for an almost monochromatic look!

I’ve been wearing these Sofft platforms constantly!  I totally need to change it up a little!

Francesca’s Collections shirt, Odille (Anthropologie) skirt, J. Crew belt, Sofft platforms.

The Print

5.20.2010 Thursday

It was humid on Thursday!  So I opted for a summery dress.  This post was actually meant to test this dress as a possible guest of wedding look, but I’ve ordered the Aidan Mattox one so I won’t be considering this any more!  It is 100% silk and the ceremony is at 4:30 pm, otherwise I wouldn’t have considered it.

When I read the reviews on Anthropologie a lot of people noted that the top of the dress folds… and now I understand what they meant.  Maybe a good tailor can do something about that?  This dress also needs to be shortened three or four inches I think, and I’d like darts put in because the skirt is just so voluminous!

Multicolor print dress (Anthropologie), turquoise necklace (vintage), tan wedge sandals (Steve Madden).
