Drape Day

8.6.2010 ~ Friday

Friends… I have something to tell you.  A tragedy occurred when I thought I could wear nude shoes and stand in the grass.  It’s too awful.  I lost my feet.  The grass was so long they just disappeared!  I’ve been missing them since Friday and it’s become really inconvenient.  Please tell me if you see them in there!

I wore this to work on a very hot day!  Luckily I took these in the morning (shocking, I know, as I manage to wake up early enough to do that once every six months or so) when the heat hadn’t set in yet.  I like the light although I think I still prefer the afternoon.  Maybe because I’m actually awake by then, no guarantees for my mental state before noon/first shot of espresso (whichever comes first)!

8.6.2010 ~ Friday

I haven’t photographed this dress in a long time, although I’ve worn it since I first got it in… April?  It’s very light and airy but unfortunately it always sticks to my legs!  And I don’t have a slip short enough to go under it without peeking out.

Friday I saw Counting Crows (I didn’t wear this, I basically wore this but with shorts) and sadly they were really disappointing.  Augustana (the opening act) was much better but the concert as a whole was just weird.  I’m glad I got to see Augustana though, they’re much more compelling live!

I might steal your clothes and wear them if they fit me

8.1.2010 ~ Sunday ~ Hello August

August first was a rather cool and dreary day, highly unusual!  I was able to wear pants for the first time in ever… sometimes I miss being able to wear pants (too hot) even if I normally favor skirts and dresses!  These are supposed to be jeggings but they don’t quite fit like they’re supposed to.  Maybe if I hemmed them it would be better?

I’m seeing Counting Crows on Friday and it’s supposed to be hot and humid.  Any outfit suggestions?

Hello hello baby you called I can’t hear a thing

7.30.2010 ~ Friday

Don’t I look like I can’t hear what you’re saying?  I have to say, I’m a bit on the fence about this dress.  I don’t like the pleats in the front, and the fabric is le crappy.  I was sort of feeling Gossip Girl when I got it… yeah.  Not really sure if it works.  It’s probably best with the cardigan?

Personal Style: Progression

Do you read Nini’s Style?  Her blog is very high fashion, if you haven’t seen it yet you should totally check it out!   She recently posted her 13 favorite looks from the Nini’s Style archives and asked her readers to do the same with their blogs.  Since I recently came on six months of personal style blogging, I decided that choosing my 13 favorite looks would be a good opportunity to note my evolution — or lack of it!  The following are my 13 favorites from January to June (in chronological order, not by most favorite), and I’m planning to do July through December at the end of the year!

(1) Remember my first real personal style blogger photo?  I consider this look the true start of style blogging for me.

(2) I loved this dress! Unfortunately it shrunk in the wash and I can’t wear it any more.

(3) My Snow White look, and still one of my favorites.

(4) Winter weekender!  I have huge issues with weekender looks.  They’re really difficult for me.  No dresses, no skirts, no heels (unless clubbing haha)… what am I supposed to wear?

(5) I really like hats and statement coats

(6) This might be my favorite look ever.  I tend to favor spare looks like this: shirt, skirt, belt.  Minimal accessories.

(7) This dress is one of the best purchases ever.  I wore it everywhere in Japan and I’ve worn it in every season!  Deceptive Sun is probably the coolest title for a post I’ve ever come up with.

(8) Anthropologie kind of day… say what you want about the prices (many of them are truly ridiculous) but the clothes hold up.  I’ve had that shirt for a long time!

(9) I love tights!  That microruffle dress is a gem!  Versatile, packs well, and easy to care for!

(10) Mink Pink Mink Yellow!  I love this color combination!  I’ve worn it a lot lately, and I’ve been wearing a lot of yellow too.

(11) My Anthropologie skirt ended up in three photos!  I really like that thing :)  Yellow and blue are great together as well!  Opposites on the color wheel always make each other pop!

(12) A What I Wore challenge!  I really loved those, they were so much fun!  And I got to connect with so many other bloggers!

(13) My pink shirt also made the top 13 again!  The belt is one of my new favorites, no one can believe I got it at Charlotte Russe for $10!

Hmmm… I guess my style has actually been fairly constant!  I miss those photos with snow backgrounds, maybe I should try to find a white wall or something!

…I don’t even know if I’m black with white stripes or white with black stripes!

7.28.2010 ~ Wednesday

So… where’s everyone been lately?  It’s lonely on the dashboard…

As I’m often known to do, I picked up this skirt on a whim while at Target.  While I was supposed to be buying things like shampoo and inserts for my poor little feet, of course.  I have no idea what I did on Wednesday.  Other than encourage a young mother that she, too, could wear this skirt, and that I got it at Target.

Has anyone ever been to Toronto?  I’m going to the film festival in September but I’ll be there all week and definitely won’t be at the film festival the whole time, so I’m on the search for things to do!

Francesca’s Collections shirt, J. Crew belt, Merona (Target) skirt, Anne Cole shoes.

P.S. love Madagascar.  I’m ten years old. My life is half over and I don’t even know if I’m black with white stripes or white with black stripes!
