Yes That is a Bow on My Shoulder

10.9.10 – Saturday – Fall Wedding #1

This is forever known as the baby owl dress… I had to ask two people if I would look like a baby owl, and getting the negative I of course ordered it straight away.  But now someone just can’t stop whooo whooo whoooooooing at me!  I guess baby quail would actually be more appropriate, but I have no idea what sounds they make.

It’s definitely becoming fall now!  I’m so glad — I’ve still been wearing summer clothing and feeling rather silly!  I might even be able to wear tights this week!!

Leifsdottir dress, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.

P. S. Does anyone have any experience with camera remotes that operate on radio frequency?  I have some epic fail photos coming up with what is probably my last attempt at using it before it’s getting sent back.  Even the ones that are in focus look… out of focus.  Am I just dumb or are they actually pretty much impossible to use with autofocus?

Black & White & Red All Over

10.8.10 – Friday

This is one of my favorite color combinations, although I hardly ever wear it.  I’m far more likely to wear black and white, or maybe black and red (although interestingly never red and white).  All my photos are so boring I’m only posting this one, the rest are me just looking up or down or right!  So boring.  Maybe I need to try jump photos or something, although I think heels are just a little bit prohibitive…

Witchy

10.4.10 – Monday – Engagement Party

So it’s totally Halloween right now… or at least the decorations are up.  Honestly I felt a bit witchy, I don’t know if it was the boots and black lace or the pumpkins everywhere!  I was sort of hoping to look a little bit bohemian/Free People-ish but I’m not sure if that worked out.  I think eclectic/totally weird might have been the overall impression!

Vintage Betsey Johnson dress, LOFT double wrap belt, scarf from a local boutique, Frye boots.

Silk Bandages

10.1.10 – Friday Evening

So it was really cold (okay, it was only 60, but still really windy) when I took these last week.  I think you can totally tell how cold I was, I’m doing that little scrunch in, yet still try to retain my posture thing.

I wore this later on Friday to the speakeasy with my friends where I think we ordered at least 9 appetizers — most of it was dinner for three out of five though.  And I had the best Sidecar of my life, with sugar on half the rim.  I was breaking in my new (vintage) Ferragamos from BriFoster on etsy.  They got here from Canada so fast!  Totally my new favorite shoes, although I wish they had a platform.  Maybe I can have the cobbler attach some?  I don’t know if that’s possible though, seems like an intense job!

H&M sweater, Anthropologie shirt, LOFT skirt, J. Crew belt, Coach clutch, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.

P. S. Some last Toronto photos are here.

Suddenly the Sun Appeared

10.1.10 – Friday – Hello October!

On Friday when I wore this I’m sure people thought I was odd because I wasn’t wearing tights, but honestly it wasn’t that cold.  And soon it will be far to cold to go without tights (I’m wearing burgundy right now) so I’m dedicated to enjoying the weather.  It was almost 70 anyway.  The sun came out during my little photoshoot and the light was just beautiful.  It was still overcast though in the first photo.

I’m sure it doesn’t look like the first day of October in these photos either, especially with that floral dress!  I do feel like a few people looked at me oddly, I’m not sure if it was the tights (lack of) or floral.  Sorry, I’m now thinking past the fall collections to spring, especially as the spring collections are completely different (at least to me) and I like them much better than fall 2010.  Also, soon I won’t be able to wear these nude heels unless I wear them with nude legwear and I don’t like to wear them because I am also a serial stocking ripper, like fellow fashion tumblr Natalie — best term ever, by the way!

H&M sweater, Charlotte Russe dress, J. Crew ribbon belt, Sofft shoes, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag.

Help I Need Help

9.30.10 – Thursday

I don’t know if you’ve noticed… but I have been very uninspired these last few weeks.    I totally feel like hiding (hence the above photo, although it was pouring that day).  Maybe I need to start making inspiration boards?  Take a look at my closet and see if I actually own any fall/winter clothing?  Or maybe I should do some looks inspired by my favorite bloggers?  I’ve seen so many people doing that lately.  Words of wisdom, anyone?

Photos in the Morning?

9.27.2010 ~ Wednesday

I don’t often take photos in the morning, although I tried again last week.  I think I’ve figured out why I prefer the afternoon/night… the light is usually cooler in the morning (at least here) and I usually prefer my photos with a bit of a golden cast.

This is a total repeat of something I wore in the spring, although I’ve always felt it was a really good fall look.  My hair is getting a little shaggy, I might have to take scissors to it myself!  I have fall weddings to attend, so I don’t want to get it cut yet just in case I think of actually doing something with it, although it’s so short in the back!  I have the saddest little ponytail ever (and only with the help of hairspray and bobby pins).

I think it’s actually going to become fall soon!  Look at all the leaves on the ground!

Anthropologie shirt and skirt, Charlotte Russe belt, Sofft shoes.

Adventures With DSLR: Is That a Ghost on My Left?

9.27.10 ~ Monday

So this is my first attempt at indoor photography and I guess it came out okay. The flash is quite visible. But I probably should have taken these before 6pm as well, it getting a little dark to do that.  Especially indoors.  And the background… could definitely be better.  I have to work on that, and really, I’m trying to.  I just bought The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby and I’m thinking about one of those photography-class-in-a-book sort of things as well.  And I need some decent software, iPhoto is good but Aperture or maybe Photoshop Elements would be better?

I wore this to meet my friend from school for pho (Vietnamese) at a restaurant almost soft of halfway between us (farther for me, but highway driving long distances every so often gets that racing urge out of blood) We’re all so scattered now, from coast to coast and north to south… and even across continents!  It’s terrible not to be able to go to Starbucks with my friends every day at 6:30 for the after dinner/pre-studying pick me up!  I do wish we were all closer together.

Dress from Commander Salamander (I forget the actual label), LOFT belt, over the knee socks/stockings really from Japan, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.
