some tumblr loves

So remember when I posted about listing all the tumblrs I follow?  A really long time ago?  I’ve finally gotten around to it!  These are all the tumblrs I follow that would be in the fashion category of the directory but they’re more specifically like personal style blogs à la What I Wore.  

Obsessed with vintage?  Natalie of A Hat & White Gloves skillfully mixes current and vintage pieces, and she lives in Australia (seriously cool)!

If you don’t even own a pair of flats and laugh in the face of a five-inch heel… then Lei Ann (GIVE ME PLATFORMS… or give me death.) is your sole sister!  

J. Crewaholic?  the inquiring amritamaz could be an entire beautifully photographed catalogue by herself!  

If you’re on a budget then iStyle4Less and Re-Mix-Her are your creative and stylish go-to girls! 

From Me To You is a photography blog, but I love seeing Jamie’s personal style in every GPOYW.  

Terra’s blog is bursting with personality and this Stylish White Female bears a striking resemblance to Christina Hendricks!  

Truly well-traveled style can be found at Songs & Fairy Tales and TheBrownGirlFiles.  

And of course, what I think of as “the New York bloggers”.  The tumblr that launched a thousand style blogs, What I Wore!  Some seriously enviable shoes (marni, frye, ann d, vintage YSL whattt) can be found at the owls are not what they seem.  And Kendra (Closet Confections) is always sporting something both ladylike and unexpected.  I like trying to guess where all her photos are taken!  

Can anyone recommend more fashion tumblrs for me to follow?  I feel like most of the fashion bloggers are on blogger, but there might be someone here that I don’t know about and desperately need on my dashboard!

7.2.2010 ~ Friday

These shoes are so nuts!  People think they are crazy.  They are very tall, and the balance is not that good so I might have the heels lowered.  I’m wearing the microruffles dress again which I think might be reaching MVP status.  Dressed up, dressed down… it’s versatile and more importantly light in the 95+ temperatures in the past week!  It remains in the high 80s every after dark these days so there’s no escaping the heat.  

I’ve been meaning to experiment with some nighttime photography so I’m glad I didn’t have time for photos before I left for dinner with my friends.  I think these were taken at about 11:30pm, a little later than I intended to take test shots.  They turned out surprisingly clear though!  One thing I did learn is that the camera cannot be too far away and definitely not as far as during the day!  The photos came out much clearer when the camera (and flash) were significantly closer to me than usual!

7.1.2010 ~ Thursday ~ Hello July

Ann Taylor Loft is having a really good sale right now — I got this shirt at the 40% off everything sale and currently sale items are 50% off!  I almost never wear tees like this but I like the beading.  Maybe I’ll go back and look for more embellished shirts! 

I wore this to the farmers market and then to do errands about town.  This is a not too fashiony look and really just summer comfortable.  Temperatures are out. of. control. here, and I can’t be flouncing about in cardigans and terrycloth (a bit heavy) all the time!  Sometimes I think it’s good to be practical even if it’s not the most styled look you’ve ever worn!

6.30.2010 ~ Wednesday ~ Farewell June

Oh no!  The sun went away mid-photoshoot.  I wore this for dinner (and most of it all day, just swapped the belt and shoes) with my friends.  Many of them were actually able to attend, and we decided to meet weekly on Wednesdays!  Hopefully we can also do fun things other days of the week, but it’s always nice to have a standing date!

7.4.2010 ~ Independence Day

Does this dress look familiar?  I don’t have a lot of red white and blue that can be worn together, so I repeated this dress with some bright red lipstick!  Neither of my red belts worked with it, I think it might have been the terrycloth or the belts were too wide.  I altered this dress slightly because I thought there was something wrong with the straps and I was totally right they were different lengths!  Now they’re attached to the top of the dress in a little ruffle.  I think my broad shoulders also look better without the straps — too thin!  I should really learn to wear sleeves!  What do you think, better than here?

6.28.2010 ~ Monday 

I’m looking a little pale and tired… Sunday night I attended a fabulous garden party where I had an allergic reaction to cucumber.  What a bizarre thing to be allergic to, right?  It was my own fault for eating it anyway, but knowing the hosts’ cooking you would have done the same thing.  The cucumber was in a delightful gazpacho, pictured in the last post.  I asked for half a bowl and intended not to finish it because of my allergy, so of course I was scraping the sides of the bowl by the end of the course!  By the time dessert was served I was very, very itchy.  The allergy isn’t life threatening (yet, but it will be eventually if I continue to eat cucumber) but it is uncomfortable.  My arms start to itch, and then my scalp especially near my hairline.  I took a lot of antihistamines but I was still rather itchy for the remainder of the night.  I already received a thorough chewing out from my med school friends so I won’t be doing that again… for a while :)  

This blouse is such a chameleon… I feel as if it never looks like the same color!  The first photo was taken with flash but none of the rest were!  The actual color in real life is somewhere between the first and last photo.
