Models literally danced down the runway at Desigual Fall 2014, waving and smiling at show attendees. Desigual is always one of the best shows of fashion week because the energy is great. I’ve spoken before on how I think that sometimes fashion is much too serious and that sometimes I think we take ourselves too seriously. Despite the serious — sometimes glaring — expressions of models during fashion week, Desigual continues to do their own thing and send out grinning, playful models. I often think that Desigual is one of the most accessible shows because I can often see a little bit of myself in the models and in the clothes. Many of the best ready-to-wear looks of fashion week are the ones that you can see and think “I know someone that would be perfect for” or “I would love to wear that on the weekend.”

Sometimes models can get a smile or two out of the front row.

A number of monochrome looks were shown, a continuing trend for Fall 2014.

Of course, a Desigual show could never be complete without bright pattern.

Ataui Deng does a spin on the runway in her final look of the show.

Dark fabric with gold accents is shaping up to be a major trend this fall.

During the walkthrough, models tossed what appeared to be gold heart pouches to lucky people seated in the first few rows.
Desigual’s signature form-fitting dresses were a key feature for Fall 2014. However, I also noted a large focus on outerwear. I personally love outerwear, so I like it when designers create things that are both beautiful and practical. After all, when you’re north of the Mason-Dixon line coats are often all you see of a person for five months of the year or more.
What do you think of the fall trends so far? Great? Terrible? Do you have a favorite?

Shame on you. That is NOT Alek Wek, this is she: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alek_Wek
Oh you’re totally right, that’s her niece. But honestly, “Shame on you”? You could have just pointed out that I mistook Ataui Deng for her aunt.
I’ll admit that you got the brunt of my annoyance after looking at a bunch of other websites who made the same mistake, including People magazine.
Alek Wek is an incredibly recognizable SUPERMODEL (and 14 years older than her niece). I don’t see how so many people could so easily confuse two different people.
I also apologize if I hurt your feelings in any way, that was not my intention. Your website is really cute. I just felt the need to call attention to this.
:)
Thank you. Your first comment was upsetting because I personally don’t believe in shaming as it is far too close to bullying these days.
As for Alek Wek, in person I think she looks about 25. She has ridiculously amazing skin– totally flawless.
Great collection! The gold and black dress is my favorite ;)

Whether or not you love all of the looks, I think Desigual is always a fantastic show!
