How beautiful is the Rifle Paper Co. Birchbox? I actually have a pretty serious love of floral prints, especially ones in this illustrated style. I’m planning on saving the box to store extra lipsticks or notecards.

Over the weekend I got to catch up with a few friends over dinner and dessert in the East Village! We even have an Instagram-official selfie.
It was fun to be back in my old neighborhood. I really haven’t been back since I moved, which seems totally shocking. Maybe I’m settling into the quiet life in New Jersey.

Can you believe we’re already over one-fourth of the way through 2015? Time has been passing really oddly for me this year. I don’t know where the past three months have gone– but if someone tries to remind me of something that happened in February, I keep thinking that no way, can’t be… that must have happened back in December!

The weather finally seems to be taking a turn for the better in the Northeast. I hope you had a good weekend and got outside for a bit of sunshine. It felt good to open all the windows and let the light flood in.
Winter has been unusually long. I think the extreme weather contributed to my general feelings of malaise– I even caught a cold, which I don’t think has happened in fifteen years.
I’m glad to see a few signs of spring.

Welcome to Letters from the City, a lifestyle photoblog.
My name is Alex and I have been blogging in some form or another since 1998. I’m a former Manhattanite now living the quieter life in Brooklyn. I like outerwear and red lipstick.
When I was younger, I was let loose in a GAP Kids one too many times, resulting in many of the fashion choices you see here in my photos. I also read, traveled, and took cooking and art classes. Art eventually led me around to photography, and to this day I do enjoy a good brunch.
Thank you for visiting! I hope you'll stay a while and get to know me. Learn More →
