Dear Chrissy,

Like many other things in New York, I’m involved in a love/hate relationship with the Anthropologie Mural Maxi Dress by Vanessa Virginia. Well, maybe not love/hate. Maybe it’s more like love/ehh.

Things I love about this dress include the pattern, the colors and the fact that it’s a long dress that has sleeves.

Thing I don’t like so much? The length, which kind of hits me in an awkward place. And the fact that the dress is so recognizable– I’ve seen it on the street on two different women in the past month.

It’s not enough to make me want to give up this dress, though. I can see it being a great summer dress for years to come, although I’d like to style it for fall as well. Any tips to make it both seasonally appropriate and on-trend?

Additionally, happy NYFW! I’m sorry I haven’t been by to visit your blog lately. I had family visiting from out of state, so I’ve had a bit of a busy week and it will only get busier. Luckily I’m not taking on too many things this season and I’ll be a bit freer this week.

Also, September? Whoa. Fall.

    Well, I’m not so good at the “on-trend” part, but I think it would look pretty great with a black drapey-type cardigan and black ankle boots/booties. Regardless of whether or not other people have it too, I like it quite a bit on you! It’s got good energy, or something.

    Well if it makes you feel any better, this is the first time I’ve seen this dress on anybody, and I do think it looks gorgeous on you. Of course that length is something i’ve seen a lot in maxis and I agree, it’s weird. as far as I’m concerned, maxis need to be about half inch above the ground.

    I really love this dress on you! I don’t think the length is bad at all — it looks great with flats and I can see it pairing well with heels or ankle boots too! Great look!
