I’ve been following Katya Leonovich for several seasons now and I like each new collection more and more. I thought the futuristic après-ski Fall 2014 collection was spectacular, but Spring 2015 is my favorite one yet.
The highlight of this collection is the 3D printed embellishments worked into most of the looks. Before the show, I had the opportunity to speak to Katya backstage, where she told me that the 3D printed pieces are completely washable. She also revealed that her personal favorite part of this collection is the custom high-tech fabrics. Cotton, she felt, would not have been a good choice with the 3D printing.
My favorite look is the pink silk dress with white kimono-sleeve jacket– there’s 3D printed detail on the sleeves that totally reminds me of sand dunes. I asked about the beachy, seaside feel in some of the looks and Katya agreed that it was a different interpretation of nature. I would actually describe the whole collection as something like futuristic beachwear. In Katya’s words, however, it’s “a combination of nature and the future and imagination!”.
I wasn’t in a good spot to get head-to-toe looks, so browse Getty for full-length photos of the collection.
you know i love your runway roundups!!
Well it looks like you got some great shots for sure. And the blue top is may favorite. Crazy what they can do with 3D printing now.

Those are really remarkable details. I love the coral looking belt.
Brilliant collection Alex,
Love the fine tailoring and brilliant detailing of these pieces. I can’t believe that those 3-D embellishments are washable!
Wow!!
Thanks for shaking this. I actually love the photos as they are: we see enough of the
Apparel and get to see the lovely faces of the models.
