Dear Kaitlyn,

I hope you had a great end to 2013! Christmas Eve dinner tends to be the more formal night for my family, and it’s kind of a tradition for me to wear something black and a pile of jewelry. This Betsey Johnson dress is an old favorite of mine that transitions really well throughout all of the seasons. It came with a small black slip, but I swapped it out for one I recently got from Ruche. This slip is fancier and has tiered chiffon ruffles at the bottom. It also has the added benefit of adding a little bit of length to this dress, which I have always felt was on the edge of  too short.

    Oh, that slip is A+! I recently got a slip with a little lace around the bottom so that it looks less sliplike if it peeks out, but it still pretty much looks like a slip. Your slip and dress were made for each other! (Also, your hair is looking FANTASTIC.)

    Oh Alex, I love this dress! A gorgeous black dress with pretty details– I mean, what else do you need? I love the addition of the slip to create the beautiful layered effect on the skirt.

    it’s always a tradition for you to wear black! Love that your family dresses up :) We were too in a hurry to have the grandkids open gifts and head up to the mountain that there wasn’t much time to sit and enjoy a meal this season.
