Last of Summer Chambray

Wearing an eShakti vintage inspired chambray dress with Felix Rey belt and gold open toe shoes

Dear Chrissy,

This is the first and last time this season you’ll be seeing this chambray dress. I ordered it from eShakti in the spring. It’s served me well through early fall, but I personally feel that this particular chambray is too lightweight for winter. I don’t think it would be a great choice to wear with tights (the dress would stick to them) although it would work with a blazer and a fun scarf in a warmer climate.

I had this dress made to measure for an extra fee. I do love it, but it didn’t turn out exactly right. I sent my chest measurement one inch larger than my actual measurement as this fabric has no stretch. I like having a looser fit through the bust when I wear fabrics without any give. The extra inch ended up being applied to the waist measurement, which I’ve noted is a very common complaint about the custom sized clothing from eShakti. It would have been a perfect fit with the extra inch in the chest. The waist is very loose, so I’m thinking of having it taken in for next year, which is something I would have liked to avoid with a custom size.

Are you transitioning to your fall wardrobe yet? I’ll be sad to see summer go, but I do love fall clothing. Bring on the outerwear!

Oof, that’s a bummer about the waist/chest thing. I haven’t had that particular issue with eShakti, but that’s a major disappointment in something that’s supposed to be made to your specifications. C’mon, dudes. The neckline looks incredibly gorgeous on you, though!

Shame it happened on a custom fit dress. It looks great on you though. But I do see a wee bit of extra material in the waist. Gosh do they have this service for coats? I have such a hard time with coats. Especially when they have belts. They are made for people between 5’4 and 5’6 I am 5’75 so the belt always falls right below my rib cage. Looks ridiculous.

Yes, that is the problem I’ve had with their dresses – and like you said, when you have something custom made you shouldn’t then need to get it tailored! Still, the dress looks adorable and with the belt it looks perfect. Such a shame that summer is over, fall always seems to get so dark and rainy.
