Dear Christi,
The snow is clearing up, but there are a lot of streets and patches where ice and snowpiles are lingering. I can’t hole up all winter, so occasionally I brave the outdoors for a good meal. In this case it was Thai. Spicy noodles and soup were perfect on a cold day.
It can be difficult to stay stylish with all the inclement weather. I favor flat boots when it snows- no sense slipping in heels. I also tend to favor sleeveless or short sleeved things, even in the winter. Although I do really like long-sleeved dresses. I don’t know. I’m just a bunch of contradictions.
The ring on my middle finger is altin place’s wide Koa Wood Ring, which altin place offered for me to review. I asked for it in size 7.5 so that it would fit comfortably on the index or middle fingers of my left hand, my favorite place to wear rings. The sizing is very accurate. My first job in the fashion industry was at an ethical engagement ring designer (I was the hand model, among other things), so I know all of my ring sizes down to the quarter size. It’s common for your fingers to shrink a little bit due to the cold or swell during the summer due to the heat, so I usually rings to other fingers depending on the season. I’ll probably wear this one on my right ring finger in warmer weather. It should fit perfectly.
I have a thing for nature-inspired jewelry– I own various branch rings and even like to let my silver pieces tarnish. This ring incorporates koa wood from Hawaii into a titanium band in order to reduce the chance of warping. On the off-chance that it does warp, the ring has a lifetime guarantee and altin place will replace the wood inlay free of charge. I’m enjoying the way it mixes into my existing collection (perfect opportunity to mix black and brown- black rhodium and brown koa wood!) and the wood inlay makes it incredibly feather light.
I favor bold jewelry, so the Koa Wood Ring with wide wood inlay is perfect for me. However if you like something with a delicate flair, altin place has a number of thinner options and a really gorgeous matching bangle, too.

Oh my god, I’m quailing just LOOKING at that snowdrift behind you. Damn! Your accessories are always so cool and stylish, and that new ring fits in nicely. I had a koa wood bracelet in high school and I thought it was so pretty (until I broke it, anyway…)

Yeah, it was seriously a lot of snow. I really like the look of koa wood! I’ve never had any koa wook jewelry before. So sad about your bracelet :( The koa bangles by altin place are super nice-looking, too.

You have pretty hands so yeah, it makes sense that you would be a model! I totally do the flat boot thang during snowy weather, but I do’nt have very many pairs of those, so I sometimes dare wear my heels… (and i often regret it) I LOVE this vest!

All of the snow and slush has made footwear options quite limited, and I nice flat boot is the safest choice. Even with this current thaw, there is still so much ice!
I love the layered fur vest, and spicy noodles sound good to me, I think I’m going out for Thai tomorrow night!

Exactly! It may looks like the ground is mostly clear, but in reality? No. Just no.

Hi Alex,
I just stumbled upon your blog and my first thought was “Hey, what a funny and special headline for a fashion style post, I want to read more about it” ;-)
And yes, this outfit can be worn after a snowstorm – definitely ! Flat boots are my favorites, too. I wear them pretty frequently (at the office as well).
Have a nice weekend!
Rathana xx
