Today I’m Wearing Red

You might have already been able to tell, but I’m like the poster child for raising awareness about heart disease.  I think most of my outfits tend toward balanced/bottom-heavy, but it’s a fancy bit of trickery.  In reality my figure is really straight.  I carry the vast majority of my weight in my stomach and my waist-to-hip ratio puts me in the high-risk category.  I’ve actually known for years, my doctor’s even told me to cut down on the stomach fat while I’m still young(-ish) and it’s still (relatively) easy.  I have a really difficult time losing weight from my stomach though.  If anyone’s ever successfully done it and kept it away, seriously, shoot me an email.

So today I’m wearing red because I’m a woman at risk for heart disease, and as reminder to myself to get started on trying to shed a few of those unhealthy extra inches from my waist.

Sorry for the bad iPhone photo, I’m shooting my outfit later today so I’ll either update this post to include photos or add a new one.

Update: some photos are up!

Edit the third: I’m not looking tense because it’s cold or someone’s watching me.  I barely made it through yoga last night and my shoulders are sort of stuck in this awkward position today.

Love,

Alex

Forever 21 cardigan, Ann Taylor shirt, BDG/Urban Outfitters skirt, Assets tights, Target shoes (Salvatore Ferragamo inside).

Even the snow is treacherous now, the crust of ice is thick enough for me to walk on without falling through.  Unless I stomp, which I did do for fun.

Your primary colors make me happy, and I would have never guessed you were at risk for heart disease, I hope you are able to best it before it can ever become more than just a risk.

and yes, snow ice, is very treacherous. and evil.
