More Uninspiration

Worn on Thursday 16 Dec 2010

Sorry for the blogging delays this week, you know, the holidays… Hopefully I’ll have another one tomorrow!  And I’ll use the queue and hopefully hopefully have a little bit more time over the weekend!

So last week I was having a really uninspired week.  Because this jersey sweater thing is actually loungewear.  And I’ve almost but not quite worn this before.  I went through all of my sweaters due to the sudden actual winter weather… and ran out of everything that wasn’t a sleeveless blouse.  I had a pile of laundry the size of Mont Blanc, seriously.  Holiday stress probably zapping my creativity… that and the abscessed tooth that’s about to need a root canal (please I hope not, I have no dental insurance).  Going to the dentist today, I hope they can try to hold me over until January when I think I will have at least some dental insurance!

I hope everyone is enjoying time out of the office, but if you’re in the office like me I wish you a slow enough day that you can write a blog post if you want (like me)!

Last Week

Worn on 9 Dec 2010

It didn’t look too much like December last week although it was certainly cold and windy enough!  Sunny, windy days are actually my favorite although standing around outside without outwear is definitely not.  Luckily I just bought two wool sweaters!

This is one of my new J.Crew sweaters from the 30% off sale, I think it was $30 down from $88?  If there’s anything you’ve been eyeing from J.Crew they currently have extra 30% off sale (it’s the last day) and a ton of sweaters are priced in the $30-50 range!  I think I now own five winter weight sweaters, so I’ll actually be weather-appropriately attired this winter!  Now I guess I just need to work on long-sleeved shirts and better tights!

J.Crew sweater, shirt, belt; LOFT skirt; HUE tights; Deena & Ozzy (Urban Outfitters) shoes.

P.S. I have no idea what happened to that fake deer’s head… it looks kind of creepy now.

Tumblr Lost My Queue

Mad mad mad mad mad.  Tumblr lost the post I queued last night.  It showed I had a post in the queue all day today, but it wasn’t actually there and it never posted.  I’ve already started on a WordPress but the transition will be long, it honestly might be a few months.  WordPress is complicated.  Maybe I’ll be switching back to Blogger and then to WordPress, I don’t know, but I’m really tired of… everything.

So how’s this for blog connection of the week:  I found the BonBon Rose Girls from Beautifully Invisible and somehow they found me… and we were visiting each others blogs at the exact same time.  How do I know this?  They left me two very nice timestamped comments!  Seriously though, that’s crazy, like ESPN or something kind of crazy. You might have also noticed that I joined the Rosebud Network for bloggers.  There are a lot of awesome members, I’m happy to be part of the network!

Black Velvet

Worn on Sunday 28 Nov 2010

Thoughts:  I have had this blazer for six years.  Actually, maybe seven… I can’t remember well enough.  I retired it for a few years after the blazer craze so I don’t think it’s ever been photographed.  It’s really more of an outwear blazer, it’s bulky and heavy and the velvet is backed with something to give it structure, I think.

I have also had these boots for six years… I guess I was really feeling some throwback purchases last week?  My feet were really feeling the abuse of the holiday weekend so I decided on flats for the last day to save my poor toes!

Gap blazer, LOFT shirt, BDG (Urban Outfitters) skirt, hot/cold sensing tights from Penneys in Ireland (do these things even work?), J. Crew boots.

Double Leopard

Worn on 18 Nov 2010

Thoughts:  Is belting a scarf… totally over?  I’ve never actually belted a scarf, um… conventionally (remember this crazy idea?).  Not that only belting one side of a scarf is standard or anything.  And it’s not even a big fluffy scarf.  But I thought I’d try it since I’ve never really done a belted scarf although I frequently see it on the blogs.

I also decided to match my scarf and shoes although I don’t really know how that came about.  I especially like these leopard shoes with my brown HUE tights, I think that’s actually where the whole look started.  Then I added some purples and some more leopard, and there you have it!

You may have noticed those crazy little hearts to the left of my photos… they’re the Hypeed inspirations hearts (yes I’m trying out Hypeed, I never want to write any sites off before exploring them thoroughly).  You can just ignore them, I know most (if not all) of you are not on Hypeed.

Red and Pink Mixing

Worn on Wednesday 17 Nov 2010

Thoughts:  Happy Thanksgiving (in the U.S. or if you’re out of the U.S. and celebrate)!

So it was really windy last week.  Great look for me, right?  The hair in the face isn’t too much?  No?  (hahahaa)  I wore this for the day and then out for cocktails/charity benefit with my friend.  Who drank about $40 worth of cocktails and then insisted on a trip to Wendy’s before the end of the night.  The chicken nuggets were good, and I had skipped dinner.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever put pink and red together, although the pink is very small.  The old fashion rule book stated that pink and red should not be mixed… and that even red lipstick must be carefully matched to the outfit (this does actually apply in some cases)!  And here I am breaking the rules (a little) with pink in the pattern of my dress.  I admire people who can mix pink and red separates so well, that’s definitely on my list!!

Tomorrow I have a super special post!  Get ready!

Banana Republic long cardigan, Free People dress, LOFT belt, Assets by Sara Blakely tights (Target), Sofft pointed toe pumps.

Laces Laces

Worn on Saturday 13 Nov 2010

Thoughts: Forgive me, friends, I’m so behind on almost all blogs.  And on posts.  And comments.  Again.  I’ve been asleep in a room with thermal drapes/reading actual books (made of paper!)/listening to Enya since Friday.  I’ve been afflicted with a migraine (the worst I’ve ever had) and treating with Excedrin, espresso, chocolate, and low light.  I believe I’m past the worst of it now though.

So, just a quick post with my new boots.  They’re actually almost flat (maybe a one inch heel) and I’m actually wearing them!

American Apparel dolman sleeve shirt, BDG (Urban Outfitters) skirt, scarf from the art museum in Charleston, LOFT belt, Assets tights, Jeffrey Campbell boots.

Fall Dark and Light

11.7.10 – Sunday

I had a very enjoyable Sunday last weekend!  I met up with my friend from college to go get some quality Asian food and got to meet her room mate… and spent wayyy too much money on Asian groceries, but really, I have to remind myself that I’m not in Asia, it’s going to be more expensive.  I wish I could just go to Asia regularly enough that I could buy groceries there, I really miss the baked goods!

I’m also debuting my new herringbone textured tights, and seriously— highly recommended!  The waistband is non-binding but also stays up.  Incredible.  And I don’t I have to squish myself into them, which is the feeling I get with some shapewear tights.

I’ve worn this skirt many times (many that I never photographed as well), and while it’s really a summer skirt I think it does pretty well with tights too!  I’m looking forward to trying it with burgundy tights soon!

Francesca’s Collections cardigan thing, LOFT shirt, J. Crew skirt, J. Crew ribbon belt thing, Assets by Sara Blakely tights (Target), Sofft shoes.

Lately in Lace and Double Plaid

11.3.10 – Wednesday

I was so glad when these lace tights went on sale at Target, I didn’t want to pay full price for them because they seem so delicate and like they might easily rip.  I’ve only worn them twice, so far so good (and better than my usual record for delicate legwear, which is a run or hole during the second wear)!  I hope I get to wear them a few more times, it’s supposed to be in the 50s for the remainder of the week, definitely more promising than last week.  I was a little bit cold!

What do you think of wearing two different plaid patterns at the same time?  I definitely don’t think it can be done all the time, but the pattern on the coat is subtle and only two colors so I thought I should just go for it!  Also, I was really feeling black and pink that day.  I think it helps that my scarf has at least two colors the same as the coat.  This scarf is also one of my winter favorites, you really can’t beat cashmere for warmth and softness among wool.  And it’s really stood the test of time and held up beautifully over the past four years!

Forever 21 coat, LOFT shirt, Express skirt, Merona (Target) tights, Burberry scarf, Sofft shoes.

Light on the Shoulder

11.2.10 – Tuesday – Hello November – Bohemian Equestrian… ish…

So Terra and I are starting a support group for whoever’s not doing 30 for 30.  You’re welcome to join us— but wait, everyone’s doing 30 for 30!  Well if you’re aren’t then you’re welcome to join our (very small) group.  Seriously though, I can’t wait to see everyone’s remixes for the next 29 days!

I… am really behind on posting, I think it was posting out of order for Halloween that got me a little messed up, so I can’t even remember what I did when I was wearing this.  Oh well.  But these are my latest pants purchase!  They’re the LOFT riding pants on super sale right now.  I actually used to ride horses when I was younger and I could totally see myself wearing this on horseback.  On a non-strenuous trail ride or something, although flat boots would definitely be better.  Yes, I am actually that ridiculous.

And this is probably why I’m not doing 30 for 30.  This time.

H&M cardigan sweater thing, Free People shirt, leather ribbon thing from A. C. Moore, LOFT pants, Frye boots.
