Black Tie Optional + Victor Victoria

6.5.2010 Saturday

Jessica of What I Wore issued another challenge!  I don’t know if it will be posted – I sent my photo at like 9pm because I thought the deadline was in the evening like the previous challenges but it’s actually 11:59am… oh well, I definitely wouldn’t have made the deadline anyway today because of work.  I had so much fun with the last challenge, but the best part was connecting with other bloggers, especially on tumblr!  Sometime soon I’m going to make up a post about the tumblr bloggers!  Maybe some of you guys don’t know about each other yet!

Saturday I attended the Annual Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Gala.  I suppose now I’m an actual patron of the arts.  And a tiny bit closer to becoming a philanthropist (my life’s goal).  One day I hope to be able to give serious money to causes I find worthy but for now I have to content myself with being a minor donor.  The Gala was black tie optional and it’s usually the case that most men wear tuxedos so I wasn’t really content with wearing one of the dresses from my, errr… sorority formal days.  Luckily I came across this dress at Lord and Taylor (after hours of despair at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, where apparently black tie optional dresses are no longer carried).  I think it has good rewearability too!  It’s an option for a wedding I’m attending this weekend — an additional option post is coming soon!

Ellen Tracy dress, J. Crew hat, Ralph Lauren bag, Nina shoes.

Les Cheveux

On Tuesday afternoon at 1 pm… I finally got my hair cut!  Are you ready for it?

I don’t think you’re ready yet!  But okay….

L’haircut, it is le short!

5.26.2010 Wednesday

This post is extremely late!  Sorry, I had quite a busy weekend… busy partying!  I can’t even remember what I did when I wore this dress other than go to work… that was probably all, actually.

My cousin brought that cool fan back from a trip to Spain!

I forget but it’s from Confetti in the Outer Banks dress, J. Crew ribbon belt, Sofft sandals.

Pinky

5.24.2010 Monday

Last photos with long hair.  I’ve worn this shirt with the yellow version of this skirt before (it’s actually one of the best things I’ve ever worn) and thought I’d try it out with this color for an almost monochromatic look!

I’ve been wearing these Sofft platforms constantly!  I totally need to change it up a little!

Francesca’s Collections shirt, Odille (Anthropologie) skirt, J. Crew belt, Sofft platforms.

Purple Clouds

5.10.2010 Monday

The pattern on this shirt reminds me of stylized clouds in Japanese art.  My cousins got it for me for my birthday, it’s from Anthropologie though I forget the label and it’s downstairs drying right now.

Looking a little dead… these were taken directly after the weekend in Atlantic City.

And thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!!!

Grey leopard cardigan (Old Navy), yellow and purple shirt (Anthropologie), brown belt (Charlotte Russe), brown skirt (J. Crew), nude pumps (Sofft).

Tropical Weather

5.2.2010

This is something I would wear on a casual day, a day most other bloggers probably wouldn’t bother with a photo.  This is not one of my more inspired looks but it was probably the best possible one for the weather.  It was hot.  And not hot in a good way because the temperature was stuck somewhere around ninety and the humidity at around 300%.  August thunderstorm kind of weather.

My knee with the big scar was seriously bothering me during yoga on Saturday and didn’t improve on Sunday (still so wobbly! and it swelled badly and there is fluid still there… I have actual water on the knee) so I had to wear wedge sandals.  And with the curly hair I unfortunately went sort of beachy… as beachy as one can be in overcast skies at not the beach!

I did quite a lot of shopping.  Bad!

I leave you with a photo of my fish, I wished I was swimming in some cool water!

Blue shirt (Old Navy), striped ribbon belt (J. Crew), patterend skirt (J. Crew), brown wedges (J. Crew), brown bag (Marc Jacobs Collection).

Mink Pink Mink Yellow

4.30.2010  Friday

Extremely late post.  It was maybe touch warm for the sweater last Friday but I really liked the yellow — better than the short sleeved grey I almost wore.  My friend was home from medical school in Dominica so we got together for a bit!  We are always on Skype so we actually see each other often!  It’s a bit different than totally in person though.  She can’t steal my Vegan Treats through the computer!

In more updated news, I’m leaving for Atlantic City today and won’t be back until Sunday.  I have a look or two for the queue though!

Yellow sweater (J. Crew), black and white dress (Mink Pink), nude platform pumps (Sofft).

Washed Out

4.23.2010

I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with my camera… no matter what I do to the settings if it’s a bright day everything comes out overexposed.  This camera is going on three years so maybe it’s just nearing the end of its life.  Maybe I should buy myself a better camera for my birthday?  It’s coming up soon, I’m getting old!

Old Navy cardigan, Old Navy camisole, J. Crew skirt, Sofft shoes.

Some New Arrivals at J. Crew

Saw this in the window yesterday with a cardigan and shorts (I think).  Loved it. It’s much more vibrant in person. Not for $150. Watercolor garden shell

This, maybe I can justify.  Especially because in June I’ll be at a wedding in Virginia.  On a plantation. Watercolor garden Bridget dress

Although… I’m a little bit inclined to look for something full length to wear to the wedding.  Not necessarily this dress because I’m not sure that the pattern is good for me — I’m probably too petite.  But I like the idea of a long, flowing skirt at a wedding in the South.  And maybe a hat.
