The 97¢ Cobalt Shirt

It’s taken me a very long time, but I finally got something cobalt! I picked this shirt up at an amazing Old Navy sale for 97¢ (and I couldn’t resist one in pink, too). Now that I have it, I’m wishing for a breezy maxi dress in this color. I think it would transition beautifully through the seasons. I just have to find one! …

Almost a Suit

Dear Nnenna,

So… I have a confession. I do wear pants. In fact, I probably only ever go about two weeks without wearing them. I just never seem to get them into any photographs. I still think they’re generally uncomfortable and they’re not very flattering on me. A skirt with a little volume really balances out my shoulders.

This is about as close to a pant suit as you’ll ever see me in (these are denim). I do truly dislike pant suits. I don’t know what it is about them… I think it has something to do with the wide-leg pants that are a part of so many suits. Love them on other women, but not on me. All my suits are skirt suits, though I’d probably buy dress suits as well. And I’d love if someone started making three-piece suits for women. …

When Bloggers go to Blue Owl

Dear Silvergirl,

On the 11th Nnenna, Lala, and I met at Blue Owl for a mini blogger meetup. And Kim is definitely coming next time! I love getting together with my friends– it’s a very big part of what makes New York so great. And we live very near each other, so we should definitely be seeing each other all the time.

Nnenna and I were together during daylight for the first time in so long and we chose the church courtyard for photos again. Lala met us later and has been camera shy lately, but I’m determined to get her in photos soon. I’m such a creepy photo stalker. …

North of Thirty Fourth

Stylistically a little bit different than my usual appearance, right? That’s because I had a photographer and two other people yelling direction at me. I seldom find myself this far uptown as well. Different feel to the neighborhood….

Stripes on the Pier and Important Things

Dear Mia,

What a difference a week can make when it comes to spring weather. Burning up in a light wrap one moment, bundled in a coat the next. This is my often neglected Forever 21 dress. It didn’t get very much use over the winter because it requires constant attention (even with a slip). I love it because of the chevron bodice, but it’s best left for warmer temperatures. …

Actually Under the Manhattan Bridge

Dear Caitlin,

Man Repelling like a champion, I know (at least that’s what my friend said one of the last times I wore this skirt). Obviously I still wear it anyway. It’s a crazy skirt, I know, but bloggers are totally obligated to wear crazy things, right? And I don’t really care if people stare at it… it’s a great statement piece. …

Black, Brown, Navy, Rose Gold

Dear Mia,

It has been so windy the last few days, as you can see. I’ve really started to miss those balmy 40 degree days. There’s been a lot of layering going on.

Confession: I don’t like this outfit. There’s just something… off, but I can’t identify it. I think… I may have liked a brown shoe better. Ah well. Hindsight. I’ve been really feeling black and brown lately, which you know if you’ve seen my Pinterest style board in the last week. Practically obsessed.

I’m wearing my Vivienne Vivienne Tam faux fur vest (c/o a gift card from TJ Maxx), Vince shirt, J.Crew chevron shirt (Dec 2010), J Brand jeans (similar), MIA wedge ankle boots, and Anthropologie necklace. My Coach Court bag is vintage, but it’s available on Coach.com.

Black Winter Outerwear

Dear Nnenna,

I got these touch screen gloves for Christmas this year! This style seems to work better for me than the metallic thread ones, but the tips of my fingers do get cold after a while.

But! I can use my phone without the rest of my hands getting freezing and any more dried out than they already are. Cold weather is so harsh on my skin.

The rest of my outfit is pretty boring, although the coat’s new. Lined with Thinsulate so it’s really warm, but I got it in petite and that might have been a mistake. I think the shoulders have to be let out. I’m wearing the old scarf from Talbots again, J.Crew coat, Joe’s Jeans… jeans, MIA ankle boots, and Coach sunglasses and bag.

Sunglasses Headband

Sometimes I forget my sunglasses on my head, and then I’m like: where are they, where did they go?

Oh.

I have them.

This is a new look for my leather skirt. I was trying to come up with new ways to wear it and eventually just decided on leaving my cardigan thing open over it. Has kind of a layered look. Also thought the belt was a good idea, but over the leather skirt it ended up being too much bulk and I lost it at the first opportunity. Maybe a skinny belt or sash would have been better? I like the way it looks in photos but it was just too uncomfortable.

Happy fall, everyone! Hope you’re having an awesome weekend. So far I’ve been having an awesomely lazy weekend…

Francesca’s Collections open cardigan, ZARA shirt, Gap skirt (possibly vintage), Forever 21 belt, Legale fleece-lined over-the-knees, Cole Haan ballets.
