The Yellow Room

Identifying rooms by color always reminds me of the pediatrician.  I was actually almost always directed to the yellow room during my visits.

It was an extremely overcast day and I didn’t like the light outside, so I decided to try for indoor photos.  I haven’t taken them in this area in at least two years (back then this was actually the eggshell room).  They came out better indoors than out although there’s a significant amount of noise.  Don’t look too closely… very very grainy.  Although the softer focus is kind of nice.

Sorry for no post yesterday.  I didn’t get to write one until about midnight.  Also, much reading of blogs will occur tomorrow!

At Last

Last week I finally went out in bare legs for the first time.  I started off in nude fishnets because it was definitely not warm when I left, but later on the weather became more pleasant.  I just wish it would stop raining.  Yesterday it rained while it was being sunny… I guess that’s better than raining and dreary?

This blue/yellow (okay, this is navy) combination is one of my favorites.  I’ve seen it on a lot of people lately so I decided to break out my blue and yellow too, although I usually prefer a the lighter blue of my long Free People shirt.  That’s my favorite blue combination with this skirt ever.  I also rediscovered Nine West, definitely haven’t had a pair of their shoes in forever!

I’m so pale after the long winter and dreary spring.  Might be time to break out the Mystic!  Also if you’re using Chrome sorry about the color issues, I’m going to try to fix it tonight.

Winter Outerwear: Snow Falling

I really hope you like these photos because I almost got eaten by a hawk while I was kneeling to get a better shot of those holly leaves.  It was eyeing the back of my head the whole time and making me very, very nervous.  I thought it was going to try to pick me up by the collar and fly off with me.

Luckily I was spared!  I was treated to a glorious view of its brown and white spotted underside as it flew away.  I guess it decided I wouldn’t make very good prey after all.  Unfortunately it was gone in a blink and I was unable to capture it in a photo.

I wish I could tell you what kind of hawk, but I’m not a very good bird-watcher.  My father is though, he definitely would have been able to identify what type of hawk.

I wasn’t going to take any photos of myself, but once I got outside I thought the snow was just too nice.  I definitely had one of those weirdo dressing days where I thought I wasn’t exactly myself.  I hardly ever wear this much color all at once… I mean, green tights?

Hahaa one snowflake fell on my head and apparently my hair is big enough that it didn’t melt while I was taking photos.

After I photographed the fur I decided to do a coat series, but I didn’t do a very good job with this coat.  I’ll have to get photos with the collar buttoned up sometime, it looks very different!

Expect more outerwear soon!

J.Crew Colletta coat (better sale in stores though), Love Quotes scarf, Charlotte Russe dress, We Love Colors tights, Gap mohair socks, J.Crew wellingtons.

Things I Will Never Do Again

Worn on Tuesday 16 Nov 2010

Thoughts:  It was definitely a day for learning what things I should never do again:)  I will never take photos in the rain without an umbrella again.  My hair was soaked and curling within minutes, and my camera was rather waterlogged as well.  Next time I’ll cover it with plastic or something, I was terribly afraid for it but it’s perfectly fine, they really do stand up to a bit (or more) of rain.  I will also never wear a silk shirt with an elasticized belt again, the belt creeps up within a minute after righting it.  And creates odd bunches in the silk.  Remember this skirt from one of my Halloween costumes?  I will never wear this skirt again either.  I wanted to try it out sans costume… and then I discovered it has odd splotches of fading.  Oh well, I guess it will go back to the thrift store.  I perhaps should have attempted a floor length skirt of a different pattern as well, but it can be terribly cost prohibitive.  I don’t like any of the ones at Forever 21 either :(

Eventually the rain chased me back inside.  I had to dry my hair again.  And my skirt.

But there is one thing I will do again: go get a soy latte from the bike shop.  Yes, I said the bike shop.  That’s what I did the day I was wearing this.  I went everywhere in this tiny town my father lives in (ran out of soy, no espresso…) and was finally directed to the bike shop.  For a latte?  What?  But yes, it’s true, they have the best coffee in town (organic, fair trade, and only $3 for my medium soy latte).  But shhh, don’t tell anyone or the yuppies will ruin it!

Suddenly the Sun Appeared

10.1.10 – Friday – Hello October!

On Friday when I wore this I’m sure people thought I was odd because I wasn’t wearing tights, but honestly it wasn’t that cold.  And soon it will be far to cold to go without tights (I’m wearing burgundy right now) so I’m dedicated to enjoying the weather.  It was almost 70 anyway.  The sun came out during my little photoshoot and the light was just beautiful.  It was still overcast though in the first photo.

I’m sure it doesn’t look like the first day of October in these photos either, especially with that floral dress!  I do feel like a few people looked at me oddly, I’m not sure if it was the tights (lack of) or floral.  Sorry, I’m now thinking past the fall collections to spring, especially as the spring collections are completely different (at least to me) and I like them much better than fall 2010.  Also, soon I won’t be able to wear these nude heels unless I wear them with nude legwear and I don’t like to wear them because I am also a serial stocking ripper, like fellow fashion tumblr Natalie — best term ever, by the way!

The Last Summer Sundress

8.19.2010 ~ Thursday

I recently ordered this dress from Rue La La ($25, Sunday Night Styleathons are seriously good).  It’s getting to be the end of summer and I wasn’t sure if I should get it but I think I might be able to wear it into fall with dark tights to anchor it, maybe grey or burgundy?  And maybe a cozy sweater too?  But for now it’s styled up with some espadrilles and my favorite belt from Charlotte Russe.  This is actually only the second time I’ve worn these espadrilles this season.  I forgot how stable they are and I should really wear them more often, I just wish they didn’t cut me off at the ankle so arrestingly.  The ties look so pale against my skin right now!

I forgot to photograph the back!  Oh well, next time!

Free People dress, Charlotte Russe belt, Payless espadrilles.

Summer Plaid

8.17.2010 ~ Tuesday

I must be thinking about fall a lot lately because I really, really wanted to wear this plaid shirt despite the 80+ degree weather!  But I’m still enjoying the remaining days of summer.  I’ve been doing a lot of repeats lately and enjoying what are going to be the last days for many of my sundresses!

Shirt is from JCPenney juniors (label not memorable), Charlotte Russe shorts, Sofft shoes, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag.

Old Friends

8.9.2010 ~ Monday

Remember this?  I decided to resurrect it :)  I haven’t been feeling very creative lately, maybe because I’ve already started looking ahead to Fall 2010 but can’t seem to find any clothing I actually want to buy.  Hugely depressing.  I’m going to Canada in a month though so maybe I’ll find some inspiration there!  Bad thing though is that it will already really be fall by that time in the north.  Guess I’ll be wearing a lot of sweaters?  I don’t know if I can bring myself to dig out winter clothing so soon!

Anthropologie shirt, J. Crew skirt, Charlotte Russe belt, Sofft platforms.

Mixed Color Florals

8.6.2010 ~ Friday

I haven’t photographed this dress in a long time, although I’ve worn it since I first got it in… April?  It’s very light and airy but unfortunately it always sticks to my legs!  And I don’t have a slip short enough to go under it without peeking out.

Friday I saw Counting Crows (I didn’t wear this, I basically wore this but with shorts) and sadly they were really disappointing.  Augustana (the opening act) was much better but the concert as a whole was just weird.  I’m glad I got to see Augustana though, they’re much more compelling live!

Pirates of the Graveyard of the Atlantic

Island Time…

I don’t remember when I took these… maybe it was last Wednesday?  I try to keep things casual at the beach for the most part, but I don’t enjoy lounging around in casual clothes.  Juicy velour is about as lounge-y as I ever get and that’s usual only late after yoga.  There were some serious storms at the beach!  The waters around the area are known as the graveyard of the Atlantic because of the amount of shipwrecks caused by severe storms.  And I had to get my usual photo of the Jolly Roger, so I give you pirates of the graveyard of the Atlantic!
