Summer Silk Paisley in Times Square | Outfits

Dear Kelsey,

Despite the freezing spring, we’ve had quite a few scorchers already. You can usually tell how hot it is by the size of my hair, which is out of control. I tried a new hair product that actually gave me really nice, defined curls… right up until I went out for the day. Keratin and a cut are in my future.

I’ve had this dress for a few years now, and I’ve been a bit wishy washy about it for the same amount of time. I get an unbelievable amount of compliments on the thing, but I feel like the bodice fits a little strangely and the skirt has a tendency to make me look a few months pregnant. Maybe it just needs a few alterations? What do you think? Keep or give away?

I personally love your dress, it’s definitely a keep! For your hair, have you tried It’s a 10 deep conditioning mask? It changed my life. Also, the Revolver salon in Soho carries Milbon, the best deep conditioning treatment ever. It’s an in-salon service and I think it’s $40. I actually just got a keratin and got sick…the chemicals in it hurt my lungs.

I think the dress looks super cute! Although I must admit, I couldn’t concentrate on your outfit at first because I was laughing so hard at the two darth brothers photobombing your fashion shoot in the background :) In all seriousness though, it’s a really cute dress, does NOT make you look pregnant, and I love the gold accessories/sandals :)

    Prada sandals?! Hello pretty girls!
I have the same problem with my hair when it gets humid..but no curls just frizz. Such great photos Alex! You look so “summery in the city”..Love it. I think the dress is cute :)

Maybe a wide belt would help? but if you are that uncertain about it, then perhaps it’s time to let it go?

Now those sandals on the other hand, you had better wear as much as possible this summer, because they are AMAZING.

And I must say, these are some pretty fantastic time square photos.

      Hmm wide belt… next time!

I love the sandals so much… I’ve been wearing them a lot and will definitely be all summer.

Hopefully you can visit sometime this summer and maybe we can get photos in Times Square at the blue hour. These were hard to get though… it was really crowded.

Alex, I really like the bodice of that dress A LOT. It’s really quite unique and very eye-catching. That said, I’m not sure about the skirt part. AND IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU LOOK PREGGERS. But it is very straight. Maybe use the dress more as a top?

I like it! But, of course, I can only assess it visually–if it’s not comfortable or you just feel weird in it, by all means give it away. These days I have less patience for clothing that I feel like I SHOULD like; if I don’t, or I’m not sure, it leads to uncertainty and weird feelings all day, and that’s the end of that.
