New York is finally being graced with sun and blooming flowers– it’s trench coat weather (my favorite)! Even if it is a practically balmy 55 degrees by late afternoon, early mornings and late evenings are still a bit cool for bare legs. I’ve been saved from either freezing or burning by Hanes legwear, which I’ve been wearing during this change of season.

In these photos, I’m wearing Hanes Silky Sheer Control Top stockings in black. They’re just enough for me to wear now in this in-between weather. I’m not too hot when squished into a crowded subway car and not too cold on a post-brunch stroll through the city.

I love the look of sheer black stockings, but many of you know me as a serial stockings ripper… i.e. I usually ruin them on the first wear. This pair are now on their second wear and counting, so keep your fingers crossed for me! Luckily, it’s not a major crisis if I do accidentally rip them– they’re suitable for almost every budget at just under $6.00. A note on care: sheer stockings definitely belong in the hand wash separately very very carefully category. I try to launder my legwear in the washing machine to make things easy, but sheers are so soft and light that I always hand wash in detergent specially made for delicates.

Would you wear sheer legwear during the winter-to-spring transition or are you more of the go all in, nothing beats bare legs type?

I’m an opaque or nothing kinda gal, but only because I don’t think myself elegant enough to pull off the sheer stocking look! Love the coat, Alex.

I definitely rip my sheer stockings almost immediately after putting them on – such a pain!!

Love the simple black, camel and red combo – that is a gorgeous trench!
