Python Print and Faux Shearling Again

Dear Kelsey,

So I’m totally running out of ways to wear this dress… any suggestions? I meant to wear it with red tights this time around but forgot to pack them.

Things have been rather quiet lately because I’ve been mildly sick. There are flowers still blooming in North Carolina and my allergies have been so bad since making the trip south. Good news, however, I think I’m beginning to feel better.

I’m wearing my Simply Vera Vera Wang jacket, H&M dress, Forever 21 belt, Betsey Johnson tights, and MIA ankle boots.

Alex

So windy!

Other ways I’ve worn the python dress:

the collar on the jacket is so awesome and i really like it against the python print.  it’s one of those outfits isn’t loud, but the details work so well together!

Yes, red tights, those would be good!
If we have more days like today (60° hello awesome) then maybe with just a little denim jacket and no tights and a chunky necklace.
Or you can always knot a button down over it.

No denim jacket, although it’s basically been on my list forever. I need a petite, and I can never find any that don’t look like they’re made for 80 year old women. Does this happen to you, too, or it is just me? Sometimes the petite sections are just dismal.

Oh my god, the petite section is where fashion goes to die. With the exception of maybe a few places that offer petite sizing (but only online!) I’ve given up on it completely.

And I know what you mean about finding a flattering denim jacket, I think I searched for years before I found mine, but of course its the military style, and not a traditional cut. However, it’s denim and fills the void for me.

I have a hand me down J.Crew medium regular that is comically long, especially in the sleeves. And somehow it manages to be too tight in the shoulders yet appear far too loose. I don’t even think it can be altered to fit properly. It’s like the mom jeans of denim jackets.

Ann Taylor petite is the only store worth looking at, although lately they only have suits and one or two shirts. Makes me sad, because the sales at the store in PA are always good. And I think Banana Republic’s peite sections are actually well-stocked. Except that since they redid their sizing about a year ago nothing will actually fit me without $50 alterations. Even if it’s petite.

You know when people play those party games and they are like, “if you could have any superpower what would it be?”
Well, mine would be that every piece of clothing i put on transforms itself to fit me perfectly… or teleportation.
I’m not sure which would be more useful.

I love this dress, too. I think it’d be really cute with a black turtleneck underneath it; it’d give it a mod vibe. I also think it’d be really cute with a sweater layered on top of it so it looks more like a skirt. I hope this helps your dilemma!

I LOVE this dress. It’s so flattering! I’m predictable, so I’d probably try to play up some of the brown tones. It also looks like it has a bit of gray in it, so you could play around with that, too. =)
