Photos and thoughts on fashion, beauty, tech + city living.

Welcome to Letters from the City, a lifestyle photoblog.
My name is Alex and I have been blogging in some form or another since 1998. I’m a former Manhattanite now living the quieter life in Brooklyn. I like outerwear and red lipstick.
When I was younger, I was let loose in a GAP Kids one too many times, resulting in many of the fashion choices you see here in my photos. I also read, traveled, and took cooking and art classes. Art eventually led me around to photography, and to this day I do enjoy a good brunch.
Thank you for visiting! I hope you'll stay a while and get to know me. Learn More →
Simply beautiful! I love the bridge and pics of the apples. Ohhh, your pictures just come to life Alex. This looks like a magazine girl. :D LOVELY!

Oh. Those. Boots. (In the first photo.) Love them!
Also – dang! You are a fantastic photographer!
Umm these photos are seriously stunning! Nice work :) And I love the red coat :)
love the jackets and the boots, absolutely breathtaking.
you have a seriously awesome collection of coats here.
and life in the country aint all bad, right?
No, not all bad. That red coat never shows up in photos, so I’m trying to capture it more often. It’s vintage and belonged to my cousin’s mother.
These are so gorgeous. I grew up in a rural little town and I always took for granted the pretty scenes. I think this is the exact definition of ‘Stop & Smell the Roses’.
I’m trying to appreciate it more, but when all the stores close at 3pm and 8 is extremely late at a restaurant… I’m just not ready for that yet.
So idyllic! I would love to escape there sometimes when the city just gets to be a bit too much!
It’s only happened to me twice, but there are times that I want to leave New York. Of course, about a minute after I’m gone all I want to do is go straight back!
