May Showers Bring July Weddings

Dear Nnenna,

Ever have one of those days when you definitely wore too much makeup? It happens to me when I don’t think about what lipstick I’ll be wearing and put a ton of eyeshadow on. The lipstick I’m wearing here is MAC So Chaud (which you probably already guessed because I got it with you) and the shadow is from my beloved Urban Decay Naked Palette. I could use that thing for the rest of my life, so I hope it’s never discontinued.

This is a new dress from Love 21 (or Forever 21 contemporary) that I wore for the first time for a friend’s bridal shower. I’m kind of having a crisis about the wedding and I’m only a bridesmaid, haha. I don’t know how the bride is managing wedding planning and medical school at the same time!


Summer accessories have come out to play, along with my new rose gold sandals– Nina, DSW. I love DSW but never go when I’m in New York because the store is just too crazy. Found these on the clearance rack in Pennsylvania, tried them on (there was actually space to try them on!) and bought them. Twenty minutes in and out.

    Man, even just being a bridesmaid can be intense! Even with a laid-back and small-scale wedding like Tia’s was. But it can also be fun, and a great way to be there for a friend.

    Also, uh: pink and gold, pink and gold! You’re tuggin’ at my heartstrings, mademoiselle.

    This dress is amazing.  I absolutely love the fabric.  I’m surprised that it’s F21 but they do surprise me once in a while.

    The dress is great! You look fantastic!
    I totally get what you mean about ‘to much makeup’ though. I forget to consider lips when I put on my eyeshadow all the time. I think your make-up in these photos looks great though.

      It’s weird, I love makeup, but the amount you need for it to show up on camera always seems insane to me. Sometimes it just seems like so much. I’ve always wanted to be one of those low-maintenance makeup people, but I don’t think it’s meant to be. I’d be really sad if I didn’t have makeup to experiment with all the time.

    Mega swoon, Alex! I love this outift– it’s so ladylike and pretty and sweet! The dress is just super on you and the color complements your skintone really well! You are also NOT wearing a lot of makeup! I can barely tell that you’re wearing eyeshadow! that lip color is perfect though. Love it. 

    As for those golden sandals… Hand them over! They’re divine!

      Thanks! I love this color, although I think this is the only thing I have in it. 

      I can wear bright lipstick without a problem, but always feel oddly conspicuous in dark eye shadow. Don’t know why.

    That dress is really beautiful! I love that color on you :)  Another colorful thing that I’m loving- that MAC lipstick on you! We need to go back so that I can pick up a color for myself.  Also, it doesn’t look like you’re wearing too much makeup at all!

      I usually change Flickr permissions, but I forgot for this post. I might actually start uploading them through WordPress because this Pinterest/Flickr thing is so annoying now, but we will see… I love Flickr, although it’s not the soundest investment at $25/year, and when you stop paying you lose access to your photos… blah.

          Didn’t used to, but Flickr and Pinterest are doing this whole copyright protection thing. I’m really against copyright infringement, but the way they’ve done it is just annoying.

            See- right now I’m typeity typing this right now from my gmail :)

            That is annoying. There should be a setting so that all of your images can be pinnable and you don’t have to change the settings on each picture…

    that dress is f21? that thing is friggin adorable, and i would have guessed loft or something. Love that color on you, and I adore eyelet lace.

    I don’t think you are wearing too much makeup, but I know we always see makeup on ourselves differently than on others.

      It’s funny because I do actually wear quite a bit of makeup (foundation, setting powder,  bronzer, shadow, lipstick, eyebrow filler…) but not often bold makeup except for lipsticks. So whenever I have dark eye makeup on I feel like I am wearing a ton of makeup. 

      I think this is only the second eyelet piece I have. I don’t know why. I really like eyelet :)
