I don’t wear shorts very often because I feel like they de-age me by about ten years, which is something that I’m actually trying to avoid. Anyone else have the problem of appearing too young? Generally I think it’s most problematic in the workplace (clients don’t take you seriously, you can have difficulty establishing authority, etc.), but it can just be a problem, period. I’ve even had cashiers in stores ask me if I wanted to use my mother’s rewards account for purchases. Oy.

A breezy, beachy weekend filled with food and sand. I always appreciate time to travel and spend outdoors during the summer. Only thing you have to worry about is the sunburn. I’m out of my favorite Neutrogena Dry-Touch, but a while ago I got a sample of Supergoop’s mineral sunscreen in a gift bag and it worked well for me.
I had a serious red, white and blue theme going on… so much that during the day I even wore pink lipstick instead of my usual red. For a lot of occasions I do like pink more than red during the summer. Pink always seems more fresh and modern to me on a hot summer day.

I hope your summer is off to a fantastic start! June feels like spring to me any more, so I usually don’t start to feel like it’s actually summer until July. I always switch up my beauty products a bit when full summer is upon us. I always know it’s here when my hair grows to twice its size and I start going through five oil blotting sheets before the end of each day.

I’m not usually one to make fancy breakfasts, but I’ve been making an effort to eat healthily this spring. There was a time last year in which I pretty much ate coffee shop breakfast, Seamless lunch, Seamless dinner… repeat. I had strings of days when I did this. Maybe even weeks.
It was bad. I’m trying to go for better choices these days.
One morning I got up and was inspired to make Blogliates Banana Pancakes [video here]. All you need is two eggs, a banana and some coconut oil or butter. My recipe ended up having an additional ingredient, so it was really Blogilates Banana Pancakes with a twist.

Decorative candles are my favorite way to inexpensively change up a room. I like to change the scents depending on the season, but Voluspa’s Goji Tarocco Orange is one of my year-round favorites. I usually get mine from Anthropologie when there’s a sale.

I hope you’ve been having a nice spring! Allergy season has been giving me trouble– I’ve been feeling generally foggy for the past few weeks. I am very pale with very dark circles lately. Is it just me or does it seem like a particularly allergy-prone spring? I don’t think my spring allergies have ever been this bad. Hopefully it’ll be less intense soon….
How beautiful is the Rifle Paper Co. Birchbox? I actually have a pretty serious love of floral prints, especially ones in this illustrated style. I’m planning on saving the box to store extra lipsticks or notecards.

Over the weekend I got to catch up with a few friends over dinner and dessert in the East Village! We even have an Instagram-official selfie.
It was fun to be back in my old neighborhood. I really haven’t been back since I moved, which seems totally shocking. Maybe I’m settling into the quiet life in New Jersey.
