On Saturday I saw Savage Beauty at the Met… and I completely understand the idea behind Met Mondays now and paying extra to see the exhibit. Wish I would have done it. We bypassed the line and inside it was insanely crowded, like more crowded than any exhibit/piece I’ve seen in any museum ever. I’m glad I went, although I wanted to read all the little blurbs couldn’t get close enough. I’m familiar with McQueen’s work but there really is something to being so close to a look that you could lift your hand and feel the fabric.

My favorite pieces from the exhibition. The ensemble on the right is the one I wish I could have touched. And I’ve been obsessed with the tartan dress ever since Sarah Jessica Parker wore it to the Met years ago.

so so sad I didn’t get to see this exhibit.
Hopefully it will travel around the world to other museums and give me a chance to plan a trip somewhere awesome.

Oh that would be good if it traveled! Maybe the lines would be less insane too. One of my friends went the same day as me and waited two hours to get in.

Oh man, what a cool exhibit! I love going to museums–I went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago when I was visiting friends last year for Thanksgiving, and there was a really interesting-looking Muppet exhibit. We didn’t end up going, though, because it was doubleplus expensive and also had like a three-hour wait. I love museums, but I don’t love crowds! It’s so neat that you got to see all his stuff live, if not necessarily up-close thanks to all the people.

I would have loved to see a Muppet exhibit. Seriously, the Miss Piggy dresses alone would be worth it. The wait for Savage Beauty was 2+ hours and a lot of my friends actually stood in that line… crazy! There wasn’t a wait like that to see the Mona Lisa!

Looks like it was an amazing exhibit! His creative genius will truly be missed. I love books, so since I won’t make it to NYC in time, I might purchase it.

The book cover is slightly creepy and very very McQueen. And it does have photos of the displays and a lot of the information I couldn’t get close enough to read (and then some).

Love these pictures! It was totally worth it to see the exhibit, right?! There were so many pieces I loved, but I think overall I was most impressed by the exhibit as a whole and how cohesive it was, as well as having good flow from one room (style) to the next.

I was really glad that they didn’t just take runway shows and string them together. I feel like the exhibit should have been larger though, there are so many amazing McQueen creations.

Oh. My. Gosh. You are probably the luckiest girl on the planet. McQueen’s work is art in fabric, wearable form.

It was such a cool experience. It probably helped that I wanted to wear most of the things I saw. There was an entire gothy section that was calling to my heart.

I am dying to see that exhibit!

If you can’t get there before it closes the book is apparently really good. I only flipped through a few pages but I’m tempted to add it to my growing collection of fashion books.

I’m a big ‘toucher’ when I shop. sometimes i shop more with my hands than my eyes. it would have been amazing to feel such an exhibit.

Me too! I always flip fabric around to see drape and fit. It was hard to resist at the exhibit.
