Now that it’s finally going to be spring in New York, I’m ready to transition to a different moisturizer that’s better suited for warmer weather. I recently received a full size sample of Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream from influenster, which I’ve been testing for the past few weeks.

I’m happy to be working with Invisalign today to share my knowledge of the difference between traditional braces and new, removable aligners like Invisalign.
It’s common knowledge that I never smile in photos, but I’m willing to bet you don’t know the reason why: I hate having crooked teeth. …

It’s been a bit of a sugary week here on Delayed Missives– and since when have I become a food blogger? First I spoke with the chef behind momofuku milk bar, and today I’m pleased to offer a giveaway sponsored by my favorite truffle makers: Epiphany Chocolates. Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I personally haven’t felt much like writing about what I wore or what nail polish I used last, and I think we could all use some extra smiles and sweetness right now. …

New York is finally being graced with sun and blooming flowers– it’s trench coat weather (my favorite)! Even if it is a practically balmy 55 degrees by late afternoon, early mornings and late evenings are still a bit cool for bare legs. I’ve been saved from either freezing or burning by Hanes legwear, which I’ve been wearing during this change of season. …

Disclosure: a sample of the BA STAR Smoky Eye Shadow Palette in Natural was provided to me c/o BA STAR in exchange for a product review.
BA STAR is a performance makeup brand popular with cheerleaders, dancers, and competitors in a variety of fields. They recently released a new eye shadow palette that’s both versatile and affordable at just $8.75. I received the Smoky Eye Shadow Palette in Natural (yes! I love these colors!), which contains three mineral eye shadows and two glitter gels for highlighting. I can’t say that I have a lot of use for the glitter gels these days, but I wish they would have been around when I was younger and still in gymnastics and figure skating. They’re much better than the awful glitters from the 90s that would travel all over my face. …

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of éclos Skin Care. All opinions are 100% mine.
Several weeks ago, éclos beauty asked if I would review their Anti-Aging Skin Care Starter Kit, which contains stem cells extracted from the Swiss Uttwiler Spätlauber apple. I read about apple stem cells being used for skincare products years ago in Allure, but definitely couldn’t afford the high price points– at the time, skin care products containing apple stem cells were priced into the thousands.

I don’t know what is it about this striped shirt, but I like it and wear it far more often than my black and white Ann Taylor one. I think I like that the stripes are actually navy and not black, and that it has a different shape than most striped shirts I see.
As you know, I’m an intern at an environmentally friendly jewelry designer here in New York, so I was eager to put some of my jewelry inspecting skills to the test when Anjolee offered me a necklace for review. Anjolee specializes in custom made diamond jewelry and Anjolee diamonds are never treated or enhanced. They’re also Kimberley Process compliant (an industry standard conflict-free certification). …
Welcome to Letters from the City, a lifestyle photoblog.
My name is Alex and I have been blogging in some form or another since 1998. I’m a former Manhattanite now living the quieter life in Brooklyn. I like outerwear and red lipstick.
When I was younger, I was let loose in a GAP Kids one too many times, resulting in many of the fashion choices you see here in my photos. I also read, traveled, and took cooking and art classes. Art eventually led me around to photography, and to this day I do enjoy a good brunch.
Thank you for visiting! I hope you'll stay a while and get to know me. Learn More →
