Wearing Flowers with Leaves on the Ground

Dear Francy,

I pretty much bolted out of New York with jeans, a trench coat and my computers… so my outfits lately have been interesting. Why yes, I’ll wear this hot house floral dress when it’s 40 degrees and dropping. I made no tights until November, though! These are the first tights of the season. Black, of course, although they reverse to grey. Good move on Sara Blakely’s part.

I’m enjoying the leaves, which actually aren’t too nice in New York this year. Too much extreme weather, I guess. The pinecones seem to have dropped really early as they’re everywhere underfoot.

I think we have precisely one tree in town that’s doing the proper fall thing, but it sure is a pretty tree. All the other trees are just dropping their leaves, which are at least fun to run over with my bike! Crunch-crunch-crunch-crunch.

I don’t have too many winter-specific dresses, which means I’m trying to come up with fun ways to style my sundresses for cold weather. I’ve definitely already worn tights a bunch this year, though, because I’m a wimp.

I picked it up late in the season from the clearance rack and was way on the fence about the print for a long time, but it’s actually become a closet staple. I did not think that at all when I first got it.

I’ve seen some things left in this print at H&M in New York in the past month, so maybe there are still a few left floating around. You might score one on super sale!

Love this post, I’ve been wearing tights since September, not sure how you made it so long without them!! Hope your back in the city for good soon!
