So apparently bloggers get together and wear black to celebrate blogiversaries. Or maybe that’s only blogiversaries in New York? In any case, on Friday evening some members of the Blogger Social Club (Hope, Jamillah, Kim, Kristine (who has a blog but does not update it), Luz, Nnenna, and me) got together to celebrate Nnenna’s Two-Year Blogiversary for Star-Crossed Smile.

It’s taken me a very long time, but I finally got something cobalt! I picked this shirt up at an amazing Old Navy sale for 97¢ (and I couldn’t resist one in pink, too). Now that I have it, I’m wishing for a breezy maxi dress in this color. I think it would transition beautifully through the seasons. I just have to find one! …

Last Wednesday I attended an awesome swap event hosted by The Bloggers’ Collective. It was totally fate that I was clearing out my closet when I saw the post about it on I Have a Degree in This. I took fun things like my old Burberry sunglasses and DKNY scarf that have been on my swap page forever, as well as an American Apparel skirt that apparently was in high demand (sorry Nnenna, but you know I’ll just be giving things to you when there’s no swap to go to).
I got to connect with old friends (um, and by old I mean about six months?) and made new ones. …
Guess who again! It’s always nice to have victims to practice your photography skills on. That’s obviously why I’m always pestering Nnenna to do things. Oh yeah, you’re free? Let’s go eat dumplings… and then I can practice doing night photography take photos of you for your blog! Although on this particular occasion it was let’s sit in the park and eat doughnut holes after we’re done running around with the camera….
Oh look, I’m here again. I love this area. Forget Central Park. Although it’s very nice, Brooklyn Bridge Park wins every time. The water has the best view, but I like the park part past the bridge as well. I’ll have to venture there and show you one day. …

A loose shirt with extremely long sleeves and wedge booties are totally casual… right? At least that was what I was thinking on Sunday morning. If I’m rather tired looking it’s because I was eating Papaya Dog at 1am and ordering Jason Wu for Target at 3am. The link hunt was kind of annoying and things I wanted sold out (sigh, no poplin dress), so it took me forever to finally checkout. Hopefully I like the canvas bag and skirt I ordered, but if not I’ll be thankful for easy returns to a Target store.

My name is Alex and I have been blogging in some form or another since 1998. I’m a former Manhattanite now living the quieter life in Brooklyn. I like outerwear and red lipstick.
When I was younger, I was let loose in a GAP Kids one too many times, resulting in many of the fashion choices you see here in my photos. I also read, traveled, and took cooking and art classes. Art eventually led me around to photography, and to this day I do enjoy a good brunch.
