#GiveMeAMackie at Screaming Mimi’s | Events

fashion blogger outfit of the day forever 21 ikat dress and coach molly black cherry satchel

Dear Christine,

On a breezy day last week I popped down to Screaming Mimi’s to take a look at the amazing prize of the #GiveMeAMackie Instagram contest. I grabbed a cupcake from Butter Lane and sipped a gorgeous rosé — and I’m actually a professed rosé hater — while taking a spin around the store to browse the clothing. …

Anthropologie Patterns & White Marc Jacobs Skirt

summery anthropologie shirt and white marc jacobs skirt
Dear Christine,

I really liked the colors in this outfit when I put it together. It’s not quite perfect though as I think the proportions are just a little bit off. This Marc Jacobs skirt is a lot of fun because it’s very swishy, but it seriously has a lot of fabric. I’m considering having it altered a bit because the fabric is like… just so much.

I’ve been considering having a lot more of my clothing altered lately. I dislike things that are too tight, so I often buy the next size up and it ends up being too loose… and then I just end up with a lot of clothing that sort of fits but not really.

Spring in 14th Street Park | Sponsored

New York is finally being graced with sun and blooming flowers– it’s trench coat weather (my favorite)! Even if it is a practically balmy 55 degrees by late afternoon, early mornings and late evenings are still a bit cool for bare legs. I’ve been saved from either freezing or burning by Hanes legwear, which I’ve been wearing during this change of season. …

How to Channel Your Inner Greta Garbo in Photos

Dear Lydia,

Sometimes the photos you take and the photos you think you take are quite different, you know? I didn’t realize quite how dramatic we looked– me with my “I want to be alone” pose and Nnenna doing her best to totally stare that squirrel down. How dare you try to steal the spotlight, Ms Squirrel!

Yeah, we’re just a bunch of crazies. We know.

Freezing in Flatiron

Dear Dotty,

So… about spring… it has definitely not sprung yet. It’s a bit cold, very windy, and I really did think we were past the ice storm part of the season. I love snow, but I do get tired of the slush that makes the city a mess. Though when it’s warm I get tired of New York by the end of August when it’s been 100 degrees for three weeks straight and can we all just please go to Ireland for a little while and cool off? I guess that means I appreciate the seasons. I am looking forward to leaves on the trees.

New Year in the Sparkling Archway

Dear Christine,

Another day, another year… they really do seem to fly away faster with each passing year. I spent the day wandering the old neighborhood with my roommate, dreaming of apartments on the border of the West Village and Chelsea, and walked by my house. I tried to go to Magnolia for a New Year’s cupcake but the line was out the door and around the block. I didn’t want one quite that much.

Snowfall

Dear Katha,

Well it’s certainly been cold and windy here lately. Winter is setting in. There’s also been a bit of snow, which you probably know that I love. All those winter sports as a child… I should never have stopped figure skating. That was one of my favorites.

Von Vonni was kind enough to send me this wintry patterned floral dress with long sleeves, which I just adore. I think that long sleeves are so underused on dresses.

An Outfit of Old, New, Newish and Really Old Things

Dear Silvergirl,

This outfit is a combination of pieces I’ve collected over about the past fifteen years, the oldest being the vintage bracelets. I really like having pieces with history and things that have been around for a while. Sometimes I think it makes them seem more mine.
