A Dress and a Skirt

It’s 80 degrees today!  Wow, seriously, when did that happen?  If only it were a little bit sunnier… but I’ll take 80 over yesterday’s temperatures for sure.

I’m wearing my new Seychelles sandals!  I first saw them at Anthropologie but I ended up getting them from Revolve for almost 50% less!  So glad I checked other retailers first.  I finally understand about the cult of Seychelles, too.  These are among the most comfortable sandals I own and really nice for wide feet.  I’m contemplating ordering them in more colors.

You might remember that I went to the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale a few weeks ago (utter chaos, seriously), and this is the product of my frenzied evening: the Morning After Clutch.  It’s not quite this bright in person.  I was dead set on a hot pink MAC but I only saw other pink colors and ended up really liking the yellow bags.  I can’t wait to get more use out of this bag during the summer :)

Bleubird dress (under skirt), Odille/Anthropologie skirt, Charlotte Russe belt, Seychelles sandals, Rebecca Minkoff MAC.

Replica: Pink and Yellow

I’ve sort of jumped around oddly with photos this past week because there are a few looks I completely forgot about.  The original version of this outfit was worn on March 17, 2010 (it was a really nice spring last year).

This skirt is such a chameleon!  It’s one of those colors that’s never quite true when processed and is impossible to capture accurately on camera.  The real color is somewhere between the rich mustard and brilliant yellow that the skirt seems to photograph back and forth in.  I updated the original outfit with a different belt and shoes.  The shoes are still leopard, but they’re the pony hair ones I got from Banana Republic this spring.  The shoes in the original photo are Deena and Ozzy (Urban Outfitters) and are looking a very grey-washed brown these days.  Poor canvas shoes, they’re really not meant for soft ground or rain.

This year it took two full months longer for the weather to warm enough to wear this outfit again… and this week I feel back at March temperatures again.  I can hear the rain on the windows right now and I almost had to swim to Anthropologie yesterday.  The puddles are insane.  Makes me wish for a yellow raincoat and galoshes like when I was younger so I can go splash in them.

Change in the Daylight

From last weekend… the day started off very nice actually, but ended rainy and very cold.  I didn’t bother with my jacket although definitely would have taken it if I had left later in the day.  I had lunch at the tea room (!!!) that I adore.  I don’t care what anyone says, I think Irish food is actually quite good.  And black currant tea, too.  I love black currant things.

My bow fell out in the first photo and I didn’t realize it.  That’s what happens with silky scarves, I suppose, so I redid it and took a photo on the table.  It’s a bit of a closer up of the vintage Oscar de la Renta scarf I got on Etsy.

Gone are the sans jacket days in New York… people are wearing tights again today.  TIGHTS.  It’s mid-May.  I refuse.

LOFT shirt, Charlotte Russe belt, Odille (Anthropologie) skirt, Frye boots, Oscar de la Renta scarf, Louis Vuitton pochette.

Pinky

Chomp chomp chomp… I’m currently munching on a baguette from Pret and looking at recent invites.  The Rebecca Minkoff VIP sample sale is tomorrow if anyone wants to go, I might RSVP (but seriously I do not need another handbag) and the Seychelles Garden Party is Wednesday (complimentary Chopin vodka cocktails– um, yum Chopin is really good).  Anyone in/around New York let me know if you’re going!

I wore this last week to work on a really humid day and mostly without the scarf.  Maybe a little too summery-looking but was really really humid and I had my tan jacket for outside.  Maybe a little overdressed too but I was getting bored, might as well wear the clothes I have.  I haven’t worn this dress in a while because it doesn’t lend itself to layering well.  There’s just too much volume in the skirt for a jacket or cardigan and then I end up looking like a big patterned fluffball.  I decided it would be a good idea to hem this dress myself… that’s why the back looks weird.  I think I’m going to have to take it to a tailor to be fixed or redone.  I honestly really should have learned by now…

Little Leopards On My Feet

Look!  Shenneth and I must have been on the same wavelength with these colors.  I do admit to a huge fondness for rust and whatever peachy/salmony color this top is.  I was actually able to take off my tights later in the day, and I’ve pretty much been wearing bare legs since about a week ago.

I’ve finally come to a conclusion about my spring/summer wardrobe.  I’m going totally vintage.  I’m starting to look for full skirts and 70s-inspired pieces.  I got my Anthropologie happy birthday 15% off last week so hopefully that will help!

The Yellow Room

Identifying rooms by color always reminds me of the pediatrician.  I was actually almost always directed to the yellow room during my visits.

It was an extremely overcast day and I didn’t like the light outside, so I decided to try for indoor photos.  I haven’t taken them in this area in at least two years (back then this was actually the eggshell room).  They came out better indoors than out although there’s a significant amount of noise.  Don’t look too closely… very very grainy.  Although the softer focus is kind of nice.

Sorry for no post yesterday.  I didn’t get to write one until about midnight.  Also, much reading of blogs will occur tomorrow!

At Last

Last week I finally went out in bare legs for the first time.  I started off in nude fishnets because it was definitely not warm when I left, but later on the weather became more pleasant.  I just wish it would stop raining.  Yesterday it rained while it was being sunny… I guess that’s better than raining and dreary?

This blue/yellow (okay, this is navy) combination is one of my favorites.  I’ve seen it on a lot of people lately so I decided to break out my blue and yellow too, although I usually prefer a the lighter blue of my long Free People shirt.  That’s my favorite blue combination with this skirt ever.  I also rediscovered Nine West, definitely haven’t had a pair of their shoes in forever!

I’m so pale after the long winter and dreary spring.  Might be time to break out the Mystic!  Also if you’re using Chrome sorry about the color issues, I’m going to try to fix it tonight.

Weekender (For Real This Time)

Guys.  I think I finally got it.  A weekender look.  For real (but are the heels too much?).  I have the cotton thing down, mostly… also the loose open cardigan and denim as well.  This is a totally legit weekend ouftit, right?  Also, look up, there’s tiny growth on that tree!  There are going to be actual leaves soon.  So happy.

And also, if you’re interested in winning this necklace:

my internship is collaborating with Moxsie on Facebook for a contest– all you have to do to enter is post a photo of yourself to the event wall!
