Sunset Before the Storm in Alexander Wang

August 26, 2011

A little pre-hurricane fun– I live in the mandatory evacuation zone in New York (#ZoneA), so I trekked to my parents’ in the country and met my friends for tapas and sangria al fresco. I wish I could have gotten more definition out of the dress but it was definitely 7:30pm by the time I took these photos. I guess that means I’ll just have to wear it again soon!

Tried to tone this Alexander Wang dress down but my friends informed me that I failed miserably, calling it the “runway dress”. I guess it’s not inaccurate because it did in fact appear on the runway. I even wore almost flats because my knee injury was acting up due to the approaching hurricane. I think an oversized bag always lends a dressed-down air so I dug out my Foley + Corinna Jetsetter Jr. from junior year of college. What do you think? Is it still rather dressed up?

I’m wearing my Alexander Wang dress from the S/S 2011 sample sale, MICHAEL Michael Kors tiny wedges from fall 2009, Foley + Corinna Jetsetter Jr. from fall 2007, and vintage rings.

P.S. If you’ve gotten this far– how are the fonts? And the load time, it’s okay too?

I can’t decide if it’s good or bad that the only clothes I want to wear these days are pretty Alexander Wang and Rick Owens. Good for wardrobe, bad for wallet… although the sample sale is really affordable, I got the T jacket and back zipper skirt for $35 each. Not too bad for a suit!

I’m not having trouble with your site so far! The tubes must be working well from East to West. ;)

That dress is gorgeous! And it suits you so well. I think of you as being very elegant, so it seems quite fitting. And what’s more fun than overdressing for the occasion once in a while? It certainly looks like you had a great time with your friends!

Oh good, glad the site’s working for you. Thank you for the compliment :) You’re the third person who’s ever described me as elegant (one of them was my Japanese professor, she said I must be good at tea ceremony because of it hahaha). I did have a wonderful time with my friends! They are friends I don’t get to see as often as I want.

I agree, it’s a little hard to dress down a dress like that, but who cares? nothing wrong with looking awesome.

I love that sunset shot… those work blurry :)

and load time and fonts are looking fine!

Thanks for the feedback, glad load time is okay! I was worried it was dragging but I think my connection was just lagging because of the hurricane.  When the weather cools down I’m going to try a sweater over this dress. Hopefully it will look a little less cocktail hour then.
