Photos with Friends

Last week I was lucky enough to get two (two!!) friends into photos with me. I don’t actually care if they pose with me though, mostly I just like to use them as guinea pigs for portrait work.

Jen has appeared on this blog before in Friends in the Snow but doesn’t really like photos of herself, so I present you with a backtrait (portrait from the back). I can’t believe I got my 50mm lens to focus so great in these photos. That hardly ever happens, but the light was good that day, somewhere between sunny and overcast.

My 50mm doesn’t do so well with deep shadows at sunset though:

There’s this The Wizard of Oz thing going on, and oops I messed up the exposure. There are no photos of me in my pink dress because they all came out so blurry.

Oh well. Guess I’ll have to photograph the pink dress again this summer.

Shivani has appeared on this blog before in Photobombed.

Random Turquoise Dress and Shoes with Little Flowers: J.Crew dress, Calypso for Target belt, Sofft sandals, Rebecca Minkoff bags, bracelets from Christi (Hamptons adventures friend).

Somewhere Over the Rainbow: J.Crew dress, random scarf, Zara belt, Steve Madden sandals (not that you can see any of them or anything).

Yes indeed, yellow goes with a lot more than I thought!  Next on my list is a black bag though… I don’t really have any I like, unless I bring out an old vintage Coach one. I’m so fussy about bags, it takes me like a year to make a decision :( I’d been eyeing the Rebecca Minkoff MAC for two years before the sample sale!

That turquoise dress: so pretty. You always look so elegant.

I love that you’re getting your friends in on pictures! I try, but to no avail.

Thank you!  I like the idea of that– looking elegant.

So what you should do if you can’t get your friends into photos willingly is totally be a creeper and take photos of them when they’re not looking. Then maybe they’ll get used to being in photos (mine did) and let you take some for real.

Although I do so love candids. I think they’re much more interesting, although I pose people too.

Your backtrait came out really well, and the pink rainbow is annoying, but kinda works for the shot. of course i’m sure there are the 20 million would-have-been-great-if-not-for-the-artifact-shots.
