Spots Again | J.Crew and T by Alexander Wang

September 12, 2011

I have been wearing a lot of leopard lately. It’s definitely my pattern of choice for fall… and it is definitely fall now. I’m pretty much a week behind in photos because fashion week upset my schedule a bit. Last Monday it was actually still 85 degrees out and I remember being hot in this. And wishing for my shirt to stop wrinkling where it meets my skirt.

I couldn’t get to the area with the good view uptown because they were washing windows, so I took these on one of the elevated walkways at Waterside on the East River. While I was there some boys were trying to talk to me from an upper deck– they were wondering what I was doing. I should have handed them business cards but they were too far away.

I’ve gotten so much better at not caring when people talk to me when I’m out taking photos. Most people just stare curiously, but some ask about the camera or to make sure they’re not in the way of photos. It’s probably actually easier to take photos in New York, though. All kinds of other crazy things happen on the street so a tripod with a camera is hardly worth stopping for.

I’m wearing my new J.Crew leopard blouse, T by Alexander Wang skirt, Salvatore Ferragamo heels, and carrying my Foley + Corinna (again).

The nice thing about well-made leopard print is that it’s pretty much classic. Now, a cheap stretchy blouse with leopard print and giant roses (like I used to see all over the place), maybe not so much, but I bet you’ll get loads of use out of this blouse as the years go by. Like Gracey at Fashion For Giants has said, it’s practically a neutral by now anyway!

I used to feel really conspicuous every time I wore animal print, and I think that made it hard to wear because I always felt mildly uncomfortable. Now though… I’ve worn much crazier things than leopard print. You should have seen what I was wearing yesterday. Totally Man Repeller worthy, according to my friend.
