Flowers on a Summery Fall Day | Outfits

chiffon floral dress styled for a summery fall day

Dear Nnenna,

It’s officially fall, although lately the weather seems to be swinging back and forth between summer and freezing. I actually love fall clothing, so even when it’s a warm fall I try to incorporate elements of dressing for the change of season. This dress is done in deep red and black, but it’s an airy chiffon that still keeps me cooler on hot days.

  • xhilaration/Target dress (past season)
  • Coach Legacy Leather Molly Satchel
  • Michael Michael Kors wedges
  • bracelets top to bottom: AMY O., Ippolita, vintage
  • rings: Ippolita (right hand) and Modern Design (c/o)
  • photos: I Have A Degree In This!

You know how much I love black rhodium plating on my jewelry, so this tungsten band gifted to me by Modern Design is a total dream. It fits into my ring collection perfectly. I’ve been wearing much of my silver jewelry again lately… must be fall! I tend to wear gold in the summer, less so during other seasons.

I need your help for dressing for this odd weather. It’s too hot for my fall clothes but I don’t want to wear summery things. Gah!

Thanks for the photo cred… hopefully I did the outfit some justice :)

I love deep red and black for fall. You’re right that the temperature keeps swinging back and forth, but I’m going to try and the enjoy the ‘not-freezing’ days for as long as I can!

    Alex,
I LOVE this dress, especially the sleeves! You’ve also reminded me to open up my jewelry collection and start using them more. AND getting other metals in my collection!

Thats pretty much always the weather during the fall – hot days with cold nights. I always think it’s pretty funny to see people like you and I in our summer dresses at the same time as someone in jeans, boots, and a sweater. I wonder how they aren’t dying of the heat, but some people just REALLY love fall fashion.
