Fashion Week Parties: Benefit

Dear Kelsey,

Nnenna and I had plans to attend the Benefit Cosmetics Primp and Party, so after Lucky FABB I dragged my very large and heavy gift bag down to SoHo on the train. Which I don’t recommend you do. We ended up having a tiny blogger meetup because we also saw Francisca and her sister Anne. I was sooo tired (gah! look at my eyes) after Lucky FABB (more about the conference this weekend), but had a blast at Benefit. …

Bloggers in Front of Brownstones

Dear Laura,

The majority of these houses are actually brick row homes, but Bloggers in Front of Brick Row Homes doesn’t sound quite as good as Bloggers in Front of Brownstones. Nnenna and Hope already wrote about our night of soirées, but I have a few additional photos from our evening. I looked everywhere for a photo of Hope’s pretty scarf, then I realized I took all those photos with her camera. You’ll just have to visit A Flattering Tale to see. …

Snapette Meet and Greet at Flying A

Last week, Snapette and The Bloggers’ Collective got together at Flying A, a SoHo boutique that carries a mix of contemporary and carefully curated vintage pieces. The decor inside is very cool and it’s definitely a shop I’ll visit again.

Snapette is an app that uses crowdsourced photos to provide a hyperlocal shopping experience to its users.

I snapped this clutch at Flying A with the app, and with Location Services turned on, I can see photos of products from other users at stores near my location. Pretty cool concept– something you’re looking for might be right across the street! …

Ippolita Fall/Winter 2012 Preview

On Tuesday evening I jumped on a train from DUMBO and dashed off to a preview of Ippolita‘s Fall 2012 collection. I don’t always show it here on the blog, but I wear Ippolita pieces quite a lot, especially my Lollipop Station Bangle and topaz hoops. I prefer my Ippolita pieces to almost all my other fine jewelry (exception: family heirlooms).

Fall 2012 is not available online yet, but expect it in major department stores in two weeks. There are quite a lot of photos in this post, so if you’re on a mobile device I’d skip unless you’re on Wifi.

Water Front is Actually a Spa

Dear Lydia,

Lately my weeks have been jammed with social engagements… which really is how I like them. Might as well make the most of the late sunsets and warm weather. Over the weekend, members of the Blogger Social Club got together to celebrate Kim’s blogiversary for I Have a Degree in This!. We had brunch at Lil’ Frankie’s, which was not at all what I was expecting. I loved the exposed brick and slightly Victorian-looking décor. …

On Fridays We Wear Black

Dear Caitlin,

So apparently bloggers get together and wear black to celebrate blogiversaries. Or maybe that’s only blogiversaries in New York? In any case, on Friday evening some members of the Blogger Social Club (Hope, Jamillah, Kim, Kristine (who has a blog but does not update it), Luz, Nnenna, and me) got together to celebrate Nnenna’s Two-Year Blogiversary for Star-Crossed Smile.

If you’d like to join our social club, email, tweet, leave a comment, etc. so I can let you know when we meet.

Blogger Meetup: Simone East Village

Dear Lydia,

I know I definitely don’t have to tell you that blogger meetups are the best, right? We always have so much fun together. Kimberlee, Nnenna, Luz, Jamillah and I decided to try to have them every month. Since I’m a member of Connecticut Bloggers without actually living in Connecticut, you can totally be a member of our little untitled blogger group and come to our next party time meeting.

The non-crazies did not come outside and stand in the street for photos– which I may or may have not made Nnenna do… with promises to yell if any cars were coming, I swear. Somehow I didn’t get any photos of Luz, but all the photos in this post were taken by Luz, Nnenna, or me. …

MomTrends + Tide Coldwater Party

I spent a steamy Wednesday evening on a rooftop in DUMBO. MomTrends and Tide Coldwater put together an intimate soirée for New York bloggers. I got the opportunity to connect with bloggers I’d never met before and learn about pomme and Brooklyn Industries, two local clothing retailers.

Before and After Madewell

Dear Lydia,

If you’ve seen my Instagram or Twitter lately, you know that Nnenna and I attended one of the Madewell Style Sessions last week. We planned on a little primping at the Refinery29 Beauty on Wheels event, but when we got there they were no longer accepting people for makeovers. We headed to MAC instead, where we tried some fabulous lip colors, then on to Madewell. Madewell was fun (sweet treats, drinks, and discounts!), and we tried on a lot of things but neither of us bought anything. I’d love to buy shorts for summer, but Madewell and J.Crew bottoms tend to be cut too curvy for me. And no tailor I know will agree to take denim in through the hip.
