How to Dress for a Cool Summer

IMG_4680
Dear Katha,

I don’t know about you, but we’ve had a number of cool summer days during the past month. Early mornings and late evenings in particular seem to call for a scarf or jacket. I love to wear my breezy summer pieces, so I’ve been getting a creative with a few ways to add warmth without looking like I’m ready for fall!

Get a great lightweight jacket. A lightweight jacket in a neutral color is easy to wear with anything . This one is done in an especially good fabric– a crinkly cotton stretch poplin that’s good for both casual outfits and dressing down floaty chiffon dresses.

Layer up! It’s not visible, but I’m wearing a thin cotton camisole under this sheer blouse (currently on sale at Ruche!).

Wear a fall dress with sandals. That said, not every fall or spring dress will look perfectly summery with sandals. It’s best to do this with a dress that’s not a heavy weight, and extra points if you’re headed out in the evening.

I hope your summer’s been filled with long, sunny days. Can you believe it’s nearly August?

I love your second outfit. Summer starts in mid-July where i love. Me and my wife are out for summer shopping. Shopping cart choice for men is very simple, but for women…

Great tips! And this kind of jacket is perfect for just slightly cool weather. But it has been fairly warm here, though not has hot as some summers.

    Alex,
Really great looks and I really love them all, but my favorite is the very first one. I am really enjoying the summer weather with a little bit of cool temperatures, especially at night, I find it great for sleeping.

This is good advice about layering for this sort of tricky season. I really must comment too, on how much I like the layering in the first outfit. And I want to say that I love your new header.
I do hope you are relaxing a bit and not working too hard !
