Rock Your Hair Product Review | Beauty

Rock Your Hair Review | Delayed Missives lifestyle blog by Alexandra Shook

Rock Your Hair is a fun hair care line by Michael O’Rourke, the creator of Big Sexy Hair. All of the packaging is bright pink and products are embellished with rhinestones for some extra sparkle. The three products I tried also all smelled great without being overwhelming. Strong fruity and floral scents tend to give me a headache, so I always appreciate a great product with a subtle scent.

Nail Rock Nail Wraps | Beauty

Nail Rock Nail Wraps in black and gold. Full kit includes nail decals, nail polish remover wipe, mini nail file and orangewood stick.

Dear Laura,

I’ve been holding on to these Nail Rock Nail Wraps for a while because they’re pretty bold. I tend to go for simple as I don’t do nail art– can’t ever get it to turn out. Also, I’m impatient. Stripes are about all I handle when it comes to time and difficulty. Nail decals are great for me because they already have fun designs and they’re easy to use.

Twistband Hair Ties | Hair Accessories

orange chevron and brown twistband hair ties
twistband hair ties
It’s been hot lately. And when it hasn’t been hot, it’s definitely been rainy. I picked up two packs of these little Twistband hair ties at the last Lulu*s Style Studio during F/W 2013. Good thing, because this summer I cannot deal with my hair, which is somehow even more gigantic than usual. It must be filled with everyone’s secrets, so if you’ve told me one lately then don’t worry– I’m definitely still holding onto it.

Twistband has fun colors. I can put my hair in a (big) pony tail. Doesn’t give me headache or leave weird marks in my hair.

Smiles all around.

Pick some fancy ones up at Anthropologie or here on the Twistband site.

These guys were free, but I definitely have paid for Twistband hair ties before. Those are just a little ragged looking now, so I’m showing you these nice ones instead. Oh, and Twistband doesn’t even know I’m writing this. I just really like these little hair ties.

Favorite Summer Hair Products for Beachy Waves

bumble and bumble surf spray, grooming creme, and surf shampoo and conditioner

Dear Nnenna,

My favorite way to style my hair during the hot and humid months is in slightly messy, beachy-looking waves. My curly hair is really a blessing because it’s fun to style and has good volume. However, during the summer that can definitely work against me. All that humidity is definitely frizz-inducing. Not a good thing, especially because I need my hair cut. It’s been since last September!

I’ve tried tons of hair products from really expensive to really inexpensive. My favorite summer hair products are both from Bumble and bumble, which tends to be on the more expensive side. I don’t mind the price, though. They last a long time and actually work, unlinke some other expensive products I’ve used.

bareMinerals READY Foundation | Beauty Reviews

bare minerals ready foundation

Dear Silvergirl,

A few weeks ago Bare Escentuals was doing free makeovers in Madison Square Park… and of course I instagrammed some photos between product applications. I ended up purchasing bareMinerals READY Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 in Fairly Light N10 ($29), one of the products that was used on me.

I also bought the Retractable Precision Face Brush ($22), which is fantastically soft and the best powder foundation brush I’ve ever owned. The brush is totally amazing, but I don’t really love the READY Foundation. …
