5 Summer Beauty Favorites

five summer beauty favorites

I hope your summer is off to a fantastic start! June feels like spring to me any more, so I usually don’t start to feel like it’s actually summer until July. I always switch up my beauty products a bit when full summer is upon us. I always know it’s here when my hair grows to twice its size and I start going through five oil blotting sheets before the end of each day.

I’m a big believer in sticking with products that work for you, but this summer I’ve found a few new things to mix with my usual standbys. From left to right:

1. Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin CC Cream [$8.99 at Amazon]

I picked up this CC cream on a whim at the drug store and have really been pleased with it. It has medium coverage and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It does have a slightly dewy finish, so I always use it with setting powder and a bit of bronzer.

The next two products were surprise hits for me. Both are from the gift bag from NewBeauty Magazine‘s 10th Anniversary. I really like the NewBeauty YouTube channel.

2. MACADAMIA PROFESSIONAL Nourishing Moisture Masque [$36 at Ulta]

The last hair mask I had was about five years ago, and my ends have been terribly dry lately. I’m not sure that this has actually improved the overall dryness of my hair all that much, but my hair does look smoother the day after I use it. You’re supposed to work it through your hair from roots to ends, but I usually just condition the ends or else my roots look oily.

3. Whish Body Butter in Acai Grapefruit [$24 at Birchbox and Ulta]

This Acai Grapefruit scent reminds me a lot of the old Shisedo grapefruit-scented lotion. I loved the light, fruity scent of that one and I’m actually not sure if they’re still making it any more. I do only use the Whish Body Butter when I know I won’t be outside for a while. I get attacked by bugs during the summer and mosquito bites always take forever to go away.

4. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia [$5.99 at Amazon]

I’ve been using Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm as a replacement for Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. The Fresh lip balm is one of my favorite products ever, but it’s $22.50 now at Sephora and I started to think that it was just too expensive for a tinted lip balm. I’ve had many different colors of the Burt’s Bees balm, but I always come back to Red Dahlia, which is a sheer red. If you’re looking for a pink, Hibiscus is my second favorite color.

5. Benefit They’re Real [$24 at Sephora and Ulta]

This is more of an all-year favorite than a summer favorite, although it’s great during the summer. I have trouble with waterproof mascaras irritating my eyes, and They’re Real is one of the only mascaras that doesn’t smudge or flake on me with all-day wear. It never melts off when it’s humid, either. I try new mascaras a lot, but I always end up coming back to They’re Real.

Do you have a list of favorites yet for summer? I’m sure I’ll be adding a few (forgot a sunscreen!) but for now these are my picks for this summer.

I have Hibiscus and really like it! Although I haven’t worn it, or any lip junk, in a long time. Maybe I’ll slap some on tomorrow…
