How to Style a Winter Dress for Summer | Outfits

fashion blogger on the sidewalk in a purple lace free people dress - williamsburg, brooklyn

Dear Lydia,

You might remember this lace dress from December and earlier during the cold, cold spring. I decided that it’s too nice to keep in the closet until fall, so I did a summer restyle with sandals and minimal accessories. Almost did a gold belt, but switched to silver at the last second. Not my most casual summer weekend look ever, but I like it. …

Peach Eyelet Peplum Dress | Outfits

fashion blogger in soho in a forever 21 peach eyelet peplum dress

Dear Silvergirl,

The wind has been blowing here in New York this summer… and unfortunately it’s mostly been a hot wind! My hair is absolutely crazy. I’ve even taken to pinning it up on hot days, which you know almost never happens. I never used to go out with my hair up.

This peach eyelet peplum dress is from Forever 21 (last spring?) and one of my very favorite warm weather pieces. I love the color, which I think makes the eyelet a little less sweet. This particular piece is very well made. Even the fabric is decent quality. …

Tomatoes + Fishs Eddy 212 New York Skyline Bowl

tomatoes in a fishs eddy 212 new york skyline bowl

Dear Dotty,

I love tomatoes. Like really really love them. Like if you asked me if we should eat fruit or tomatoes– yes. Tomatoes. Always. These pretty tomatoes came from the farmers market and are unbelievably red.

I also really love Fishs Eddy. I think about 99% of all New Yorkers do. This is the Fishs Eddy 212 New York Skyline Bowl (the cereal bowl to be exact, but whatever) and my favorite pattern at the store. Not that I don’t like everything else, but it has the Flatiron Building on it and the Flatiron is my favorite, too. …

Tracy Negoshian Pink Seahorse Dress | Outfits

IMG_6179

Dear Kelsey,

Head-to-toe crazy pink seahorses on a chevron background– full length photos from this outfit snippet post have finally been caught on camera. This pink seahorse dress is my favorite dress of the summer. It feels like the clothing of my younger years, back when I used to wear old school J.Crew every day.

The pink seahorse and blue chevron pattern is really intense, though. Wearing patterns sometimes makes me feel very conspicuous so I don’t have very many of them. However, this one was just too good to pass up. …

Swiss Dot Dress + J.Crew Sunflower Necklace | Outfits

blue cotton dress and stuart weitzman sandals

Dear Chrissy,

This feather light cotton dress is one of my favorites for hot, humid days. It’s really only appropriate for summer, so I try to get as much wear out of it as possible during the season. It helps that the color goes so great with just about anything, and that I can dress it up or down as long as the occasion isn’t too fancy. …

Summer Windowsill Candles & Mason Jars | Decor

candles and mason jars on a windowsill

Dear Francy,

Now that it’s full summer I’ve been changing up the decor. My two new summer windowsill candles are Ilume via Anthropologie, which always has something interesting. The regular glass candles that most stores have don’t seem to look as nice in the window, and I like not begin able to see the burned wick.

I picked up a Vanilla & Fig from the Boulangerie collection, and a summery Citron Basil from the Nature Tin collection. The Citron Basil is my pick for favorite summer candle– it practically smells like a summery dessert….
