Coffee Tasting with Craft Coffee

A little over a week ago I attended a Saturday morning coffee tasting with The Bloggers’ Collective and Craft Coffee. I’m definitely a little bit of a coffee fiend and treated the tasting about the same as a wine tasting– observe color, sniff, taste. Craft Coffee sources beans from all over the world and taste tests more than fifty varieties per month. Only three of those make it into their monthly subscription boxes, which are available for $24.99/month (sort of like the coffee version of Birchbox).

I tasted all three of the November offerings, and all were truly excellent and incredibly fresh. None of Craft Coffee’s coffees were bitter or overly acidic. I think they would be perfect for making bulletproof coffee (you know, the coffee with butter in it), which I’ve been meaning to try. I love espresso even more than coffee and am also curious about how the flavor of Craft Coffee beans hold up in cappuccino. Everyone at the tasting left with a complimentary sample, so I’ll definitely be trying out an espresso grind with some of my beans.

What Would Ashley Wear? and kitschy examining the coffee.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post was but was gifted a sample upon completing the tasting.

Night Lights

Dear Dotty,

I think photos at night can be pretty fantastic, especially with a city behind you. Just have to find the right light (or bring an assistant with your own). That’s the Queensboro bridge behind me, which I haven’t really shown like this before. It’s probably even better at sunset.

Forest Wandering in T by Alexander Wang | Outfits

Dear Kelsey,

So I took these photos a little bit ago, as you can see by the green leaves. These were pre-hurricane and now there are hardly any leaves left to turn yellow. Hoping there will be a nicer fall all around next year.

I mean, everyone wears T by Alexander Wang to go forest bathing, right? Everything is so soft and wonderful that I don’t see why not.

If you’re a fan of gourmet chocolates don’t forget about my Epiphany Chocolates giveaway for a $25 gift card and 18 piece box of seasonal fall chocolates!

Snapette and Piperlime Snaphunt in SoHo

Piperlime Holiday Picks

Last weekend I went on a treasure hunt in SoHo to find a Piperlime gift card waiting for me at the green balloons! I was delighted to run into Sarah (co-founder of Snapette) at secret location #1 with plenty of gift cards still available. After snagging a green balloon, I headed down to the Piperlime store to meet Hope and we ended up braving the last day of the Alexander Wang sample sale. It was totally worth it for the final price cuts.

Free People Holiday 2012

Free People Holiday is my absolute favorite catalog of the entire year and always a great resource for holiday dressing inspiration. I love the party dresses and covet them every year. What do you think, do you like Free People’s approach to holiday as much as I do?

P.S. I ducked into Free People yesterday to see some of these pieces in person and am seriously in love with the sequins. The holiday store decorations are seriously sparking, too. Wish I had some of these lanterns to decorate with!

The Last Warm Day

Dear Caitlin,

Union Square is one of my favorite places in New York. I know not all New Yorkers feel that way, but there’s just something about the area that seems so alive. And DSW and Forever 21 are there, of course. I’m always up for a good game of chicken with New York traffic, and the small side streets east of Union Square Park aren’t nearly as busy as the others. Easier to take photos in the street.

Happy Veterans Day

Veterans Day has always been an important holiday in my family. When my father was a young man, he served in the Coast Guard. When my grandfather was a young man, he served in the Navy during the Korean War. And now one of my best friends from my hometown serves in the Army Chemical Corps.

I wish my father a happy Veterans Day each year. I’m not sure if that’s exactly correct, but he always appreciates it.

To our veterans and future veterans, thank you for your service.
