Everyone is All Right

You might know that I fled the city Saturday after being evacuated. As far as I know, everyone is all right. However, my building is closed due to severe damage and I don’t know when I’ll be able to return to New York. Maybe next week? I think I’m stuck for a little bit. I hope everyone is dry, safe, and warm. Happy Halloween! It’s officially now on Saturday here.

Into the Woods

Dear Christine,

Fall!  This is a pretty season, although less so than last year. Less warm, too. I’m trying to do no tights until November and I think I might actually make it. Really feel like I am exhausting my transitional pieces though… I don’t have too many separates and have always thought that fall outerwear can be tricky. …

Yes, these were totally taken during fashion week. Just down the street from the amazing Birchbox Sample Stop, where I didn’t really take any photos because I was admiring the wall of beauty products. I’ve got some beauty reviews to write, but a clear favorite so far is the Beauty Blender, an amazing little hot pink makeup sponge.

And maple bacon chocolate is a lot better than I thought it would be.

Leopard, Magenta and Red in the Woods

Dear Shen Dove,

It’s still summer in North Carolina, still mild and the leaves aren’t on the ground yet. I flew south for the winter for a wedding and this was my traveling outfit. Picture it at LaGuardia at 6am (with an oxblood jacket). Totally ridiculous, but I’m sure you’re not surprised.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm Review

In the mirror at the Clarins lounge.

One fashion week day during a break between shows, Chris, Lindsay, and I stopped by the tranquil and spa-like (i.e. I loved it) Clarins Beauty Flash Lounge in the Empire Hotel. I just asked for a bit of undereye help that day, but my makeup artist convinced me to do a full touch up with Clarins Beauty Flash and new foundation. She gave me some tips for application and we discussed sponge vs. fingertips methods.

At midnight my makeup still looked great.

That’s kind of an impossible feat for me (I think at least half my makeup disappears by noon every day), so I was sold on Beauty Flash. It’s the best primer I’ve ever used and even beats out my regular favorites from Smashbox, Laura Mercier, and L’Oreal. I’ve been testing Beauty Flash for about a month now, and it even saw me through a 5am wake up for an early flight to a midnight party… without a single touch up.

Clarins Beauty Flash is both brightening and tightening, so I found that if you have dry skin (me) it’s definitely best to moisturize before using Beauty Flash, then go on with your beauty products as usual.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is available for $45/1.7 fl. oz. on the Clarins website, at Nordstrom.com with free shipping, and at Sephora.com.

Disclosure: I grabbed a complimentary full-size tube of Beauty Flash ($45 retail value) on my way out of the lounge.
